Lunatic Fringe

Democratland

The country has been trending away from Democrats since 2009/2010. The most recent national election only proves that Americans continue to grow weary of the left’s politics and priorities.

All the talk about the end of the Republican Party appears to be more projection (wishful thinking or just plain old-fashioned narrative/brain-washing) by the liberal media and Democrats who have been watching their political fortunes decline to the few places in the nation where their veins of corruption run so deep it is nearly impossible to uproot them.

Other than that, the GOP is  on a roll.

From TownHall.com: Obama’s Legacy: The Total Destruction Of The Democratic Party

GOP control of 66/99 of the state legislatures (Nebraska’s is unicameral) is an all-time high, and after the 2014 midterms, Republicans had the most state-elected lawmakers in office since 1920. With the results of the 2016 elections, the Republican Party is the dominant political force in the country. President-elect Trump will preside over unprecedented levels of Republican power in office.

Don’t get me wrong. The GOP has issues. The #NeverTrump faction on the establishment right (and conservative establishment right) was wrong about a lot, not the least of which was the down-ticket impact of nominee Trump. They promised relegation to the political wilderness, the end of the party, and a Democrat majority. We got the opposite. Trump expanded the map and grew the base.

The NHGOP has issues.

In New Hampshire, for instance, “Republicans” have complete control of state government. But not all Republicans are created equal. While New Hampshire Democrats used their top-to-bottom control a decade earlier to steer the ship hard left on both fiscal and social issues, I question whether current Republican leadership in this state can convince the moderates in their party—who have adequate numbers and liberal sympathies to harpoon meaningful reform–to support a truly Republican agenda. Even though the people of the state have repeatedly given them GOP majorities in state government based on the promise of such reform.

After more than a decade, they finally have a Republican governor and a  majority in the legislature. But can they close the deal? Can they convince the moderates?

They are not short on, for lack of a better term, backup.

As we look across the fruited plains, the GOP has the wind at its back. Since 2012 there have been more Republicans in elected office than most of us have seen in their lifetimes.

The left will see it as a challenge and will respond with outrage, anger, intimidation, lies, fear-mongering, and hate. Yes, more than usual.

Will Republicans cower when confronted by the violence and intimidation tactics of the fringe left lunatics and their media allies using their ‘rules’ to create the perception of influence when in reality they have little or none?

Or will Republicans do what nearly every real father tells their child to do when confronted by the playground bully?

History suggests they will run for cover.

I’m hoping for a better outcome. They’ve earned it and so have we.
