Is Shea-Porter Running For Congress?

Michelle Obama - Carol Shea-WhoIt’s not supposed to be Press Release Day, but this one caught my eye. Carol SEIU-Porter is the Democrat candidate for the US House in NH district one who many years ago, showed up everywhere for everything to get elected to office. Now, I guess, she and her party just assume she is entitled to it because she doesn’t show up to anything.

Yesterday, Carol Shea-Porter declined an opportunity to debate with Bernie Sanders-inspired Shawn O’Connor and Republican Frank Guinta on Jack Heath’s WGIR Radio program in Manchester.

This is the third time in 10 days the former congresswoman has refused an opportunity to tell Granite Staters where she stands on highly important topics. On Monday, Shea-Porter skipped the Bi-State Primary Care Association’s Forum, and last week refused to accept Guinta’s challenge to allow all candidates to participate in upcoming debates.

All of this follows voter suppression efforts by the New Hampshire Democrat Party to keep O’Connor off the general election ballot, which failed, not once, but twice. The party blocked him from the Democrats’ primary ballot.

“Shea-Porter’s continued refusal to come before Granite Staters shows just how far she has come from claiming to be for ‘the rest of us.’ As she tries to avoid the obvious political peril of facing the self-proclaimed ‘true progressive’ in this race, Shawn O’Connor, it is clear she is only out to promote her own self-interest, seeking a coronation instead of a campaign,” said Guinta.

“In fairness to her, I can’t blame her for hiding from crumbling Obamacare, the shrinking middle class, and continued failures of President Obama’s foreign policy. But voters demand accountability. The question remains: How long can Shea-Porter keep up this charade, protecting her own self-interest at the expense of Granite Staters?”

The Guinta campaign press release highlights a feature of many New Hampshire Democrat candidates. Town halls, press conferences, debates, or open forums where they might have to field an unscripted question are too dangerous to the reelection effort. Everything is closed, party-controlled, and scripted for the media, who then report it to the voters unchallenged.

That alone should disqualify her for the office, but not for Democrats. They are not looking for someone to represent you. They are trying to elect a rubber-stamp for the progressive agenda.  You can’t get a much better rubber-stamp for the Obama-Pelosi-Clinton agenda than Carol Shea-Porter.

As for Frank, whatever flaws you attribute to him, in my experience, he has always made himself accessible as a candidate and a member of congress. He often stays as long as needed to answer questions from everyone including voters, taxpayers, supporters, trackers, and even left-wing bomb throwers sent by the Democrats to gin up a gaff or a sound bit they can spin for their side. And that explains why they prefer not to expose Democrat candidates to fair and equal treatment.

It’s not about anything but them and their mindless pursuit of power at your expense.
