Americans for Prosperity Notes September Business Tax Revenue Continues Major Spike After Business Tax Cuts
MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) pointed to today’s release of September state tax revenue as ongoing evidence of the success of business tax relief that started January 1st. For the month, revenues were $22.7 million ahead of plan, with business tax receipts making up $21.3 million of that surplus.
“There can no longer be any doubt that the tax relief that took effect at the start of the year has been (an) enormous boost not only to our economy, but to the state treasury,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director. “September is one of the largest months for business tax revenues, and the fact that revenues came in 23% above plan again validates the reality that this tax relief for our employers has been an absolute plus. However, what’s more important than the dollars in the state’s account is the fact that this tax relief has translated directly into more jobs and more of our friends and neighbors being able to get back to work, build their careers and improve their lives.”
AFP-NH says the success of tax relief should encourage lawmakers to work to provide greater tax relief to employers in the 2017 session.
“While it’s important to become more competitive, it’s time to give the state a decisive competitive advantage over our neighbors,” added Moore. “We need to continue lowering what remains a very high business tax burden until we are the clear choice in New England and the Northeast for businesses who are looking to expand, relocate or grow. That’s the recipe for more good jobs and increasing wages for all New Hampshire residents.”
