Americans for Prosperity Highlights Ongoing Explosive Job Growth Since Tax Relief for Employers Took Effect

MANCHESTER – Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) highlighted today’s release of August unemployment data showing the eighth straight month of major job gains following business tax cuts that took effect on January 1st.  In August, 1,750 more New Hampshire residents found employment.  According to federal data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in the eight months since the tax cuts became law, the state has averaged 2,159 more jobs added per month.  Additionally, another 2,270 New Hampshire citizens entered the workforce, bringing the total up to 757,080, the largest number of potential workers in state history, and an increase of 16,751 since the tax cuts took effect.

“The explosive job growth across New Hampshire started the moment that the state gave tax relief to employers,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director.  “New jobs went from a trickle before the tax cuts kicked to a geyser now.  That means that many of our friends and neighbors now have the opportunity to find a job and move forward in their careers.  It also means that employers have the confidence to hire new workers and grow our economy.”

Over the past two legislative sessions, AFP-NH has worked diligently to reduce the tax burden on business, which had been the 3rd highest in the country, according to the non-partisan Tax Foundation.  These efforts have facilitated four laws that offer tax relief to New Hampshire businesses.

“By becoming more competitive, we’ve made a better job environment for all New Hampshire residents,” added Moore.  “We’ve also given many people a reason to get back into the workforce, which really is the fuel for economic growth.  We need everyone who needs work to be able to find a job that helps them grow their skills and become part of this economy.”
