More RidiculousShock2Democrat policies to encourage “flight of capital and jobs”. From Townhall.com:

Minimum Wage Increase Puts 1,400 D.C. Restaurant Employees Out of Work

D.C. restaurants have lost 1,400 jobs in the first half of the year. This loss—the steepest drop since the 2001 recession—follows a significant minimum wage hike.

Data  suggests that the D.C. restaurant industry has been unable to absorb the higher cost of labor without reducing employment opportunities. Since mandating a base wage of $10.50 in July 2015 and another increase to $11.50 in July 2016, D.C. has seen employment in the restaurant industry trend downward, for a 3 percent job loss in 2016.

That’s interesting. If you raise the price of something beyond what the market will bear, demand falls.  Who knew?

It’s funny. The Left knows this. They use taxes to discourage behavior and things they don’t like, for example: cigarettes, coal, oil, fun etc.  They understand how this works; yet somehow, for some reason, they believe this truism doesn’t apply to the cost of labor.  What a weird blind spot.

Then again, the cynical side of me says that they do not have this blind spot. They want minimum wage as a wedge issue to use on the stupid (Democrat voters to you and me). Then when the reality hits, like it inevitably does, and the dumb vote themselves out of a job,  the Democrats get more remoras  sucking  on the government’s underbelly which then increases the Democrat voting base and political clout. And come election time (when isn’t it God forsaken election time), Democrats will whip up the dumb blaming something else for unemployment and capital flight like racism, sexism, greedy executives, or white people living in the suburbs.  This will get their rubes shouting for a “living wage” again and voting them back into office.  This cycle then repeats.  It’s predictable as hell, but the dumb can’t grasp it.

It’s like the bad policies put in place by Democrats to encourage “flight of capital and jobs” are completely lost on the willfully blind… or maybe just the dumb.
