Post-show: How else do you think the Media has earned the moniker of "Democrats with bylines"? - Granite Grok

Post-show: How else do you think the Media has earned the moniker of “Democrats with bylines”?

That last phrase courtesy of Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit.  We talked briefly about this state of affairs of the so-called “Press” and their utter contempt towards Republicans and then, Conservatives and Libertarians (Do NOT confuse the latter two groups with the first – I posit that fewer and fewer Republicans are Conservatives (even as they all call themselves that) and can’t stand Libertarians).

This is an example of their “byline” activity.

Two weeks ago at the Republican National Convention (RNC) a grieving mother blasted Hillary Clinton for the debacle of the 2012 Benghazi attack. Last Thursday, at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), grieving parents gave a speech criticizing Donald Trump for his statements against Muslims.

While all the grieving parents deserve sympathy, the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) network evening and morning shows seemed to only care about the parents that showed up at the Democratic Convention. Khizr Khan and his wife Ghazla’s DNC appearance earned 55 minutes, 13 seconds of Big Three network coverage, nearly 50 times more than Pat Smith, whose RNC speech honoring her son earned just 70 seconds of airtime.

HOW THE MEDIA’S HISTORY OF SMEARING REPUBLICANS NOW HELPS TRUMP: “Already, editorial boards are preparing their indictments of what they believe to be Donald Trump’s incompetence, bigotry, and authoritarianism. Trump operatives will undoubtedly respond: ‘That’s what they always say about Republicans.’ And they’ll be right.”

All the way back to the days of FDR and Truman.

We’ve all seen it in each and every election cycle and certainly we are seeing it now.  Just look back two Prez cycles how McCain was uplifted by the press, becoming their “favorite” Republican during the primary but once the Democrat general election was on, they turned on him.  But their other weapon is the exact opposite – denying mention at all and/or not publishing “bad news” about Democrats.

To the latter:

IT’S A RIDDLE, WRAPPED IN A MYSTERY, INSIDE AN ENIGMA: Facebook Quickly Admits to Censoring WikiLeaks DNC Links, Doesn’t Say Why.

Meanwhile, #DNCLeaks is pulled by Twitter from trending topics.

And finally, as of the time of this post, Yahoo’s Tech page has plenty of references to Trump and even Twitter banning Milo. But nothing on Wikileaks. I wonder why?

By a 12-to-1 margin, journalists spent far more time deriding the Republican convention for its negativity, even as their reactions to Democratic speakers were consistently positive and often enthusiastic. Cable news had its own unique biases: MSNBC carved out time on each night of the GOP convention for interviews with top Democratic officials, but — despite promises to the contrary — aired no such interviews with Republicans during the Democratic convention. Meanwhile, CNN devoted more than an hour of airtime during the Democratic convention to airing 18 party-produced videos, but only included three such videos during the GOP convention.

Press and the Romney campaign

Oh yeah, the third category – “let’s just not mention the Right at all” or just outright bash them:

Twitter suppressing Donald Trump’s fundraising tweet

RollingStone:

“…The once-divided media class now came together to gang-troll flyover America for its preposterous decision, turning the coverage of the convention into a parable on the evil of letting voters make up their own dumb minds. This was the Fatal Attraction of political coverage, a warning disguised as a story: Look what happens, you rubes, when you step outside the lines.”

Those are just for starters.  I may continue to roll updates in here as I have for this other post: Progressive and The Proper Role of Government – and your subservience to it.
