Forrester is Not the Best Pro-Life Candidate In the Race for Governor of New Hampshire

Jeanie-Forrester
She’s not the most conservative candidate either…

Jeanie Forrester is promoting herself as having a 100% rating from New Hampshire Right to Life. In a past political life, that may have been true. But in the last session, State Senator Forrester did not take the 100% life position. NHRTL President Jane Cormier (a friend of mine and a contributor here at GraniteGrok) took to the pages of the Union Leader to question Forrester’s claims and to clarify the group’s 2016 endorsement in the New Hampshire Republican Primary for Governor.

To the Editor: Although ethics in the world of politics seems to be virtually extinct, the truth is still the truth. It is imperative New Hampshire have a true conservative in the corner office in 2017. New Hampshire Right to Life-PAC (NHRTL-PAC) has endorsed Rep. Frank Edelblut. Frank Edelblut is a true conservative who holds a stellar liberty voting record in our State House.

Another gubernatorial candidate, Jeanie Forrester, maintains on her campaign literature that she holds a 100 percent rating from NHRTL. This is categorically not true.

NHRTL-PAC has requested Sen. Forrester take this misleading information off her campaign literature, all to no avail. She is well aware this information is false but continues to display it. So, let’s make sure the truth is out there. NHRTL-PAC endorses Frank Edelblut for New Hampshire governor. Only Frank Edelblut. And, any candidate who implies anything else, is simply not telling you the truth. The truth is important.

UL Editor’s Note: In 2014, NHRTL gave Forrester a 100 percent rating.

The union leader added a link below the LTE to another article that attempts to add more context but if you cut through the posturing, one point stands above the fray. If Forrester was still truly 100% pro-life, even in an election year in which she was planning to run for governor, she’d have backed the best fetal homicide bill (HB 560) instead of tabling it and supporting something (SB40) that was worse than doing nothing.

Yes, doing nothing was a better Life position than the bill she supported. But it gets worse for Forrester, in my opinion.

Has it not occurred to them that the reason their Democrat governor was willing to support their “compromise” was because it advanced her own goal of muddying the water to provide less legal protection for the pre-born; while giving her one of those compromise talking points for her race for the US Senate?

Did they not understand that the culture, society, and Millenial voters, in particular, have been moving toward the pro-life position for years? That technology has shown that there is a life in the womb worthy of protection? That there is plenty of room to stand on principle on the issue of Life for a pro-life candidate?

Smart State Senators could have passed House passed Bill (HB560) as a way to show Maggie Hassan’s veto as rigid fealty to the baby-part-selling Billion-Dollar abortion lobby. They could have leveraged her rejection as an attack on the value of pregnant moms and the lives of girl’s robbed of life by the reckless. As an assault on parents who have lost a child.

Instead, they pushed watered-down, compromise legislation that would have done more harm than good. In the interest of what? The political class’ playbook.

Their own political future.

The political class playbook states that Republicans must moderate if they want to appeal to voters, especially in an election year. Executive Councilor and candidate for governor, Chris Sununu caving to fund Planned Parenthood comes right out of that playbook.

The Republican State Senators who tabled a good fetal homicide bill and passed a weak replacement is them reading out of the playbook; a narrative filled tome written by the Democrat party, the consultant class, and regurgitated by the progressive media, to pressure Republicans into abandoning conservative positions, their own party platform, and too often, their state or Federal Constitutions.

Forrester aborted the good bill and gave the bad bill life in 2016, at the expense of parents and pre-born life, all because the political class playbook says so. And now she wants to keep the 100% life rating she earned in 2014?

Jeanie Forrester may be better on Life than Chris Sununu, and Chris Sununu may be better on Life than any potential Democrat opponent, but none of them is better on Life than Frank Edelblut.

New Hampshire Right to Life is endorsing Frank Edelblut.

Get over it.
