Forrester and Van Ostern: Sketchy endorsements by ‘Save the Children’

Over the weekend a mailer was sent by Save the Children Action Network endorsing and touting Republican gubernatorial candidate Jeannie Forrester in the primary. The same organization has also endorsed Colin Van Ostern in the Democrats’ gubernatorial primary.

The address noted on the mailer is the exact same address of Dennehy & Bouley, a lobbying firm located in Concord, New Hampshire. Jim Bouley is listed as the New Hampshire lobbyistfor the Washington D.C.- based organization Save the Children Action Network. This is an organization that seeks to push taxpayer-funded public pre-school and kindergarten.

Of course, Save the Children Action Network ignores the research that has been conducted for years about Head Start being a multi-billion-dollar failure, including the government. Early childhood programs funded by the state have not proven to be useful. They’ve only proven to be a huge waste of taxpayer dollars at the expense of children missing time at home. FromTownhall:

In 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services commissioned a study to evaluate Head Start’s effectiveness. The study found that though the program had a “positive impact” on children’s experiences through the preschool years, “advantages children gained during their Head Start and age 4 years yielded only a few statistically significant differences in outcomes at the end of 1st grade for the sample as a whole.

How are the endorsements of Forrester and Van Ostern by this organization sketchy? BecauseMike Dennehy is one of Forrester’s senior advisers and Jim Bouley endorsed Colin Van Osternin the primary. Not only that but Bouley is the Mayor of Concord. Interesting how a mayor is also a lobbyist. Sketchy indeed.

It’s hard to take the Save the Children Action endorsement seriously when you understand who is involved. It’s also telling that they are endorsing a far left wing extreme candidate like Van Ostern at the same time they are endorsing “supposed” conservative Forrester. There seems to be a bit too much inbreeding going on between Save the Children, its lobbyists and the candidates.
