Really, Chris Sununu, THAT is what the role of NH Governor is supposed to be?

Chris Sununu

Shot (emphasis mine):

“THE PRIMARY job of the governor is to grow the economy,” Sununu says in announcing his economic plan.

Chaser:

NH Constitution

[Art.] 41. [Governor, Supreme Executive Magistrate.] There shall be a supreme executive magistrate, who shall be styled the Governor of the State of New Hampshire, and whose title shall be His Excellency. The executive power of the state is vested in the governor. The governor shall be responsible for the faithful execution of the laws. He may, by appropriate court action or proceeding brought in the name of the state, enforce compliance with any constitutional or legislative mandate, or restrain violation of any constitutional or legislative power, duty, or right, by any officer, department or agency of the state. This authority shall not be construed to authorize any action or proceedings against the legislative or judicial branches.

Wanna think that over, Chris?  Right off the bat, you wish to disregard your actual NH Constitutional mandate?

Where in that article is it up to you to do ANYTHING with the economy?  Oh sure, you’ll have a bully pulpit, but the NH Constitution is quite clear – you do what you are told by the Legislature.  They create the law, you execute it.  Yes, you can propose and cajole the Legislature to create laws that mirror your intents, but unless you want to become the NH Obama and do what you want, you can’t GROW anything outside of your Constitutional mandate and stricture.

Which does not include what you’ve written (see below for the full text from the link).  Go ahead, Chris, point to anywhere in the NH Constitution that gives you this power?  Perhaps you can find it, but only within a witches’ brew of pneumbras and emanations.  Which is what the Liberal Progressives do with the falsity of a “living” Constitution.  Words have meanings – unless you wish to make up your own definitions.

And make no mistake: I believe that the overreach of Government to intrude into areas not specified by the Constitution is why we are in such deep sneakers. You claim to be conservative – part of being a real Conservative is taking stock of your limitations, the Constitutional boundaries set upon and around you, and staying within it.

Are you going to put out a presser that would startle us – one that would say “I will do nothing that is outside the Constitution (our foundational Law) limits and will shrink the Executive Branch in being compliant thereof”?

Here’s what he said:

“THE PRIMARY job of the governor is to grow the economy,” Sununu says in announcing his economic plan. He promises to reduce the business tax burden and simplify government regulations.

The plan includes support for right-to-work legislation and repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act with alternatives such as interstate insurance.

Sununu proposes business tax credits for job training investment, workplace prevention programs for Granite Staters with substance abuse problems, and focusing on fixing New Hampshire’s roads and red-list bridges.

He wants to overhaul how the state approaches, and welcomes, business. That includes a reorganization of the office of Economic Development, within the state Department of Resources and Economic Development.
