The purpose of the Dems and the Media is to continue to destroy the Constitution

constitutionLet’s start with this:

Kerrie Diers (Exec. Dir. of the Nashua (New Hampshire) Regional Planning Commission) doesn’t care much that your land gets in the way of her planning (for your own good as in “WHY do our perceptions of the needs of the Collective have to give way to what Individuals own?”):

  • “Private Property Rights get in the way of good planning“
  • “Private Property Rights won’t let us have the discussions“

In other words, YOUR Rights are getting in the way of THEIR agenda – they cannot let that happen.  Now, add Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and his frustration with due process and the Constitutional Rights (Washington Times):

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin told an MSNBC panel on Thursday that the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is “killing us” in terms of preventing gun violence.

Mr. Manchin, a Democrat, referred to due process as an inconvenient “firewall” when it comes to denying Americans firearms.

“The problem we have — and really, the firewall we have right now, is due process. It’s all due process. So we can all say, ‘Yeah, we want the same thing,’ but how do we get there? If a person is on a terrorist watch list like the gentleman — the shooter — in Orlando, he was, twice by the FBI, we were briefed yesterday about what happened. But that man was brought in twice. They did everything they could,” the senator said, the Weekly Standard reported.

So’s all that “Innocent before proven guilty” bit.  As Benjamin Franklin posited:

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

With talk like this, we see that we may be failing on the “A Republic, if you can keep it” line as well.  Seems for the Progressives, that’s more of a feature than a bug.  The Fifth Amendment is a bullwark against a government that wants to do what it wants when it wants and to whom it wants even if it is “for the common good”.  If I have learned anything while blogging, process is EVERYTHING when it comes to government; it must be open, reproducible, accountable, and follow protocol.  If nothing can be trusted, well, why trust the government (like the IRS and Trey Gowdy posts)?

When those we elect actively scorn the Liberties that we have, as enumerated by the Constitution, we are in deep sneakers.  Manchin swore an oath to protect the Constitution.  And now we see him ready to rend that Liberty that the Constitution was created to protect – that is what government’s main mission – to protect our Liberties.  He, and others responding to this latest event in the wrong way, see only the immediate and urgent and not the harm over the long term.  If this can be breached, the precedent has been set – what will be the next to go?

Already we see the Democrats and the Media wind up a new meme on AR-15s not just as that stupid, made up political phrase “assault weapons” (meaningless dribble meant only for demagoguery for civilian disarmement) but now “weapons of war”.  What a stupid line they know they are spewing (well, at least some of them) as no infantryman would dare take an AR-15 into battle).

And the Republicans are now folding for the no fly / terrorist watch lists that will give Obama and the Dems the perfect tool – get on that list and no guns for you (and join the other lists, such as the VA and the Social Security “can’t handle my own finance” lists.

Remember this: just after Obama, the Department of Homeland Security put out a manual that included whites, Christians, those that espoused a more limited government, Constitution limiting, fiscal frugality, and veterans as being potential terrorists.  How easy would it be for a lot of us to start to be dumped into this list.

And like Hotel California, you get “in” but you can never leave.  A Constitutional Liberty of the Second Amendment gone. And what would be the next one after it and the Fifth?

The snowball is gaining speed….

Update:

TO SOME PEOPLE, ARBITRARY GOVERNMENT POWER IS THE VERY BEST GOVERNMENT POWER: Flashback: One Woman’s Case Proves: It’s Basically Impossible to Get Off the ‘No-Fly List.’

For the gun-grabbers, it’s a feature and not a bug.

Co-founder of GraniteGrok, my concern is around Individual Liberty and Freedom (and how Government is taking that away from us). My fight, from a Conservative (with small “L” libertarian leanings) and evangelical Christian perspective, is with the Progressives that are forcing a collectivized and secular humanistic future upon us. As TEA Party activist, citizen journalist (and pundit!), my goal is to use the New Media to advance the radical notions of America’s Founders back into our culture again.
