I like the mindset of Texans…

I agree. WE are our own First Responders and we should not outsource our own safety and security to hired help (even as good and fearless as they are, running to the sound of gun shots) – that is what the Second Amendment is about (albeit, in part).  Bataclan, the Chechen school a few years back, San Bernadino, and now Orlando (among others).  Each and every time, a gun free zone.

Would those carrying have prevented this last Islamic Jihadist attack?  Probably not.  Would it have made it worse as the panty wetters keep claiming (e.g., “you’d shoot each other instead of the bad guy.  Cops, too, wouldn’t know what to do”)?

Well, there are 49 innocents that are dead – no one could defend themselves unless a mass of people had said “let’s roll” and gang tackled him even knowing that some of them would not make it.  Instead, they were killed separately.  In this case, I’m sure that if even a few folks had been carrying, the carnage would have been less EVEN WITH MISTAKES. And make no mistake, mistakes and errors would happen.  But the Left would have you believe that simply giving up and dying is the “ethical and moral” choice.

Screw that – I have no intentions of leaving this mortal coil because I “gave up”.  Sure, I might very well be that recipient of the first round or so – I can’t change that and it doesn’t change whether I’m armed or not.  It may well be the scenario – or may not and I might have a chance to stop evil.  After all, the estimate is over 2M incidents where good guys stop bad guys not because a shot is fired but the message is that a good guy is there. That’s one reason why people do carry – not to be a cast-off of the ancient Wild Wild West  but to protect.  Those of us that carry understand there is a big responsibility in doing so and that is generally self-imposed.  We don’t take it lightly and yes, TMEW knows that’s my mindset: hope and pray that I never have to use it (and to date, have never had to unholster) instead of being a sheep led to slaughter.

Not cowboys – sheepdogs.
