Federal Government Ambassador to NH Jeanne Shaheen shows her Fascist side

The NH Constitution says it much better: [Art.] 2. [Natural Rights.] All men have certain natural, essential, and inherent rights – among which are, the enjoying and defending life and liberty; acquiring, possessing, and protecting, property; and, in a word, of seeking and obtaining happiness. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by this state on account of race, creed, color, sex or national origin.

Economic Fascism (or Corporatism / Industrial Policy): while private ownership is permitted, Govt laws and regulations effectively “owns” and controls businesses.

Shaheen hits Trump on minimum wage views

New Hampshire’s senior senator led one of Hillary Clinton’s opening attacks on Donald Trump, based on the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s recent comments about scrapping the federal minimum wage. U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, said abolishing the federal minimum wage would pull the rug out from under an estimated 47,000 Granite Staters who rely on the base hourly wage.

Really?

There are a number of things wrong with her premise, but let’s continue a bit more first, shall we?

Trump, speaking on NBC’s “Meet The Press” Sunday, told host Chuck Todd that he does not support the federal government setting a minimum threshold and then letting the states opt to raise their respective wage rates… Trump said he would like to see “an increase of some magnitude,” though leaving it up to states, based on their regional economic climates.

I see this as perfectly reasonable:

  • States do know their economies far better than a far off central Government that is acting, more and more, like the capital district in Hunger Games.
  • Speaking of Central Control by the Feds, I defy Jeanne Shaheen to show me where in the US Constitution (and the “General Welfare” is in the preamble and in any of the Articles that direct Government) had the authority to set a nationwide minimum wage?  I would just like to know.
  • It devolves power, real economic power, out of DC and back to where it should belong – the “Several States”

But, she gets worse:

This is one of the many reckless proposals that Donald Trump has made that would send our country in the wrong direction,” Shaheen said in a conference call with reporters on Tuesday. Shaheen’s reference to 47,000 Granite Staters relying on the hourly minimum wage is from labor data generated by research for legislation to reinstate a minimum wage for New Hampshire.

At least someone had a sense of Liberty, the sense of private contract between employer and employee, and economic sense:

A bill to re-establish the state rate was killed earlier this legislative session.

In this case, the NH State Legislators decided that Government should not intrude on Private Property.  Yes, that is right – Private Property.  Skip, how can you say that?  Easy: money is Private Property. What was done honored Article 2 (the Right to acquire, possess, and protect Property).  Sure, the State taxes to fund itself (and, unfortunately, redistributes, but that’s for another post) but in this, they said that NH would not control businesses within the State in this manner – let the marketplace decide (and let there be free association between employer and employee).

You know, Jeanne Shaheen came out in favor of gay marriage – that would be free association.  So why won’t she be intellectually consistent and allow free association for employees and employers?

Oh yeah, she doesn’t want free association in the marketplace.  She doesn’t want the States to take back their power.  She doesn’t want YOU and ME to make our own economic decisions.  In her view, Government should make all the major decisions.  She doesn’t TRUST anyone except those in the Federal Government to determine our economic lives. So what does that make her?

Go back to the top of this post – both Constitutions explicitly show that Government was to protect our Liberty and Property.  I don’t think that is true anymore when politicians, who have no problem putting their noses where they shouldn’t be, have no problem in micromanaging the lowest levels on the economic levels and telling biz owners and managers how to do their job.  Well, given how great the Obama Administration’s ministrations have been the last 8 years (first Prez never to break an average of 3% growth GDP) and her caterwauling in support of it, has she no shame in bad results?  They’ve shown no bowed heads over the fact that their vaunted “job growth” hasn’t even risen to the level of keeping up with population growth.

Why can’t she admit she’s wrong – that she can no longer support the racist origins of why we have minimum wages in the first place?
