I’m Sorry You’re So Sorry

I’d apologize for slavery…

Bernie Sanders, a socialist, is ready to apologize for America’s history of slavery.

Isn’t it about time.

Slavery hangs on the minds of many left-wing candidates and progressives in general. I think it is some type of diversion from their inability to make socialism work.

Recently, the president of Harvard has come out in favor of apologizing for slavery – but not socialism.

Liberals love to label “slavery non-apologists” as racists – a label one can be pasted with for the most minor of infractions. Here is a great article about how whitey should apologize for slavery, by an author who writes for the NY Times.

This author, Timothy Eagan, lives in Seattle, Washington – a city with, according to the 2010 US Census, a 7.9% black (former slaves) population.

Maybe Timothy Eagan can apologize for that. Seattle didn’t just happen to become one of the whitest cities in the US, restrictive zoning and fresh, new, white, progressive faces with lots of money – driving up property values – did that. I call that, “Let’s get rich driving the locals out” property value enhancement.

Come to think of it, as an unapologetic Socialist running for office as a Democrat, Bernie Sanders represents the 1.2% black population of Vermont. He ought to know them by name.

Let’s not forget Harvard and that attention seeking-apology seeker there.

Harvard isn’t in the real world. It exists beyond criticism. It’s Harvard. After all, its Harvard.

This new president of Harvard, Drew Gilpin Faust, who insists on apologizing for the history of slavery at Harvard, might do well to start with apologizing to Catholics, Jews, Asians, homosexuals, and a host of other groups Harvard has had a more recent history of discriminating against. Some are probably still alive.

She could do that, quietly and in person. Maybe apologizing to several groups of people Harvard has discriminated against recently will end the pangs of white liberal guilt she feels about slavery.
