So, a Democrat pol believes it right to have teachers grade parents??

School houseI’m sorry, but teachers are OUR EMPLOYEES – this Mississippi House rep clearly shows that Government should be in charge, not of your kids, but you as well.  That’s right, you who pay their salaries, should now be able to be called onto the carpet.  This is an attempt to codify what I’ve been saying for years now: teachers believe they have more right to your kids than you do and now by making parents more subservient.  From Watchdog (reformatted, emphasis mine):

If a bill passed by the Mississippi House becomes law, students won’t be the only ones receiving grades from teachers. Under House Bill 4, also known as the Parent Involvement and Accountability Act, teachers would be required to grade parents’ involvement with their children’s education.

The legislation, by state Rep. Gregory Holloway (D-Hazlehurst), would mandate a section be added to each child’s report card on which the parents are graded on their responsiveness to communication with teachers, the students’ completion of homework and readiness for tests, and the frequency of absences and tardiness.

That’s right – treat the average parent no better than if they were a child sitting in a classroom.  I’ll tell you, this is pure gall; this is not about “grading” this is about shaming.  And it will lead, over time if put into law, punitive measures being applied to parents who don’t fit the bill (or as I have video’d, teachers who have no problem in being vindictive and assertive when “parents get in their way”.  Heck, why not just station a DCYF / CPS (Dept of Children Youth Families / Child Protective Services) right by the teacher’s desk. Wouldn’t that make it rather easy – come parent-teacher conferences, one nod from a teacher would be the child taken in one direction and the parent (for “neglect”) in another.  Given an inch, a bureaucracy will write its own mile trip ticket (as we have been seeing at the Federal level with DoED writing its own laws without authorizing legislation when it comes to sexual harrassment / sexual assault.

Not only that, it would REQUIRE that “parents serve the school”:

  • Mandate participation for parents in at least one supportive function for the school, such as assisting at the bus stop, working a concession stand at an athletic event or serving in the Parent Teacher Association.

Oh, it’s “for the children” that we can tell you that you WILL show up and you WILL give up your time involuntarily.  Simply just for having a child in a public school??  Who ARE these people and were they brain injured at birth?  Or is it better said “Totalitarian, much”?  Seriously, mandate?  How much more intrusive should Government get?

Oh, the worse things?  Guess who is helping this Democrat Totalitarian who feels absolutely free to restructure the relationship between school and parents?  Yeah, the same reason why the “Outsiders” are winning the Prez Primary on the R side:

The Republican-dominated House passed the measure 75-43. The bill includes what is known as a reverse repealer, which would force the measure into a conference committee with the Senate. Lawmakers use the reverse repealer as a way to keep a bill alive past the deadline for legislative action.

And they wonder why voters feel betrayed by the Party that formerly stood up for more Individual Freedom and less intrusive Government. Why should people support the Republicans when they act like Statist Democrats?
