Shades of TX Gov Rick Perry trolling CA and NY to “get” jobs – but FL Gov Scott trolling Yale?

This is funny as all get out – and EXACTLY what low cost States should be doing to the money-grubbing ones.  I put this post up yesterday about the deep Blue State of Connecticut eyeing more revenue by going after the endowment funds held by Yale with the main message of “theft by the point of a pen”.  The message was that private property really isn’t all that private when Legislators decide that “your’s is ours” under the Progressive rubric “We know how to spend your money than you do”.

And here comes Florida’s Governor Rick Scott rolling out the “tax free” carpet (emphasis mine):

GIVEN THAT NEW HAVEN IS YALE’S BIGGEST NEGATIVE, THIS MAKES SENSE: Florida Gov. Rick Scott To Yale: Move To Florida, We Won’t Tax You! “Gov. Rick Scott of Florida saw opportunity in the Connecticut legislature’s proposal to levy a tax on income from Yale University’s enormous endowment. On Tuesday, the Republican issued a statement calling on the Ivy League institution to pick up stakes and move on down to sunny Florida.”

Heh!  From the referenced post (emphasis mine):

Gov. Rick Scott of Florida saw opportunity in the Connecticut legislature’s proposal to levy a tax on income from Yale University’s enormous endowment. On Tuesday, the Republican issued a statement calling on the Ivy League institution to pick up stakes and move on down to sunny Florida.

“We would welcome a world-renowned university like Yale to our state and I can commit that we will not raise taxes on their endowment,” Governor Scott said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “This would add yet another great university to our state.”

The reason for this happening is rather simple (as many things are when you dive down to root causes and principles:

  • A lack of limiting governing principles
  • A lack of fiscal constraints
  • And most importantly, a lack of respect of other peoples’ property

For you see, if that last point IS uppermost in the minds that are governing, the first two fall into place.  The problem with Progressives is that they DON’T respect other peoples’ property – to wit, Bernie Sanders, the openly Socialist running to be the Democrat (I know, I repeat myself) nominee for President, is absolutely fine with taking 90% of someone’s money.  And we know that Bernie wants to make more stuff “free” for others – at least he’s honest about it.

But is that a good thing?  Certainly not as far as this limited Govt guy is concerned.  Again, if there are no limiting principles, there is no end to what Government can do FOR you – and TO you.  We’ve seen too much of the TO you lately – and the price of an expansive government is a diminishment of the ability of ME being able to make my own choices (and you too).

This country was founded on the principle that Government came SECOND – Individuals came FIRST.  This is an example of Progressives trying to turn that upside down.
