So NH Democrats Are Giving Up on the Heroin Epidemic?

drug use heroinDemocrats are flipping out over what Ted Cruz said about neighborhood policing as a potential means to deter terrorism. This is actually great news. It means that progressives can no longer be taken seriously when they come out in favor of random surveillance on everyone, or stand in opposition to a citizen’s right to self-defense.

On the level playing field of Utopian Equality™ there is no room for cameras on police cars that spy on everyone if they might incidentally spy on Muslims or people in Muslim neighborhoods. Traffic cams will have to go. Those are racist too.

Policing altogether may have to be scrapped because very little of what works can be called anything other than profiling, prejudice, or racism.

The gun-control left must further abandon a foundation upon which their opposition to an armed law-abiding citizen rests. If the officers, uniformed or otherwise, cannot be made readily available to protect persons or property, a common argument used in favor of disarming the public at large, the most vulnerable among us become little more than children abandoned by the state.

The responsibility to defend and protect is reduced to its smallest available component. Law-abiding citizens who know that the police (who have no obligation to protect them to begin with) can never be nearby because that might be misinterpreted as racist, will have to assume responsibility for protecting their families and property. To do that they will need to be armed.

Additionally, New Hampshire’s latest crisis du jour, the Heroin Epidemic®, is no more. How do New Hampshire Democrats (whose leadership is outraged by Mr. Cruz’ remarks) intend to execute their war if they oppose policing in public spaces as a racist and outrageous insult?

Without feet on the ground, short of tripping over an occasional (still breathing) addict or dealer on the way to Starbucks or Whole Foods, all you can do without offending someone is show up when called to take pictures, fill out paperwork, inform next of kin, and take questions from reporters. If that’s your strategy, congratulations, you’re almost ready to join the Free State Project.

We can’t stop there. If nothing is to be done about the Heroin Epidemic® for fear of offending one group or another then we don’t need to expand Medicaid which becomes by extension racist and sexist, ageist, and even prejudiced against people based on their economic circumstances. If even one of these fiscally disadvantaged persons is offended by the burden of being labeled a Medicaid recipient, regardless of what the moderately-minded recipients might think, the whole business is an affront to our values as Americans and we shouldn’t have to stand for any of that. We certainly can’t have more of it.

Shut it all down. Cut the strings and the budgets, and let’s hear no more about any of it.

I’m off to buy more ammo.
