A Question for Democrat appointed NH Speaker of the House, Shawn Jasper. And NH Rep Joe “NitWit” LaChance

Shawn Jasper BinkieHe was quoted on WMUR’s NewsNine on a piece on Medicaid Expansion and the money it will cost:

“It makes no sense to me to have us send our money back to Washington”.

I do wonder what that was bracketed by, as the quote WMUR settled for seems to be both disjointed and unfinished.  I do believe that it was on the line of “hey, we should do this simply to get our money back from Washington takes from our NH taxpayers.”

OH!  CAT OUT OF THE BAG???

Gosh, has Jasper finally ante’d up what many of us have said now for years, that the Republican leadership (NH Senate, NH House) have been lying to us?  We keep hearing that NO NH taxpayer would have to pay for NH’s participation in Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion.  Well, if our tax monies are being taken by Washington, only to be “repatriated” by NH lawmakers, doesn’t that mean NH taxpayers have been paying all long???

I know, stupid question – of course we have been.  But NH Republican elected leadership believes you’re stupid and can’t connect the dots.  And worse, you’re just gonna take it.  After all – where else are you gonna go as they implement, not the Republican agenda and principles, the Democrat one?  They’re laughing at you even now.

But let’s view this from the other direction – instead of begging on your knees to get our own money back with the Obama strings attached in how you can spend what should be our money in the first place, I’ll ask the question that Steve keeps asking:

What are you doing to keep it from leaving in the first place?

Sadly, for a sovereign State, nothing.  They are not “saving NH” – in fact, they are really in thrall, more and more, for NH-cum-Fed bucks – if it weren’t for the Feds, our budget would be less than half its current size.   And thus, more responsible for our own spending (which, IMHO, would be a great thing).  Instead, NH lawmakers love the stealth taxes taken from us in order to keep the State ticking along – a great way to remove “hard decisions” from their plate.

If you are all that hep on “getting money back”, Shawn, how about a good first step – even though it would ruffle the feathers of those that got you that gavel – repeal of the Seventeenth Amendment (which made US Senators publicly elected instead of elected by each State’s legislature)?  The House was always supposed to represent The People and the Senate to represent the States.  Doing so, and riding herd on our two Senators, would help to ensure that NH priorities would be better served.

Willing to do that, Shawn?  Getting that LSR ready for next session?
