The root cause of why Trump and Cruz are winning?

Remember, MIT trained John Sununu the Elder said:

I have no feeling for the electorate anymore. It is not responding the way it used to. Their priorities are so different that if I tried to analyze it I’d be making it up.

The last couple of years, a rebellion has been brewing, mostly smoking, irritated, frowning – or as Conservative Treehouse has said “Cold anger”.  They are tired of being taken for granted, sick of the browbeatings from their “betters”, and tired of votes being demanded (and then, at least here in NH, their Principles disregarded by the NH GOP).

CNBC’s “Morning” Joe Scarborough lays it out cleanly as to why the base trusts not the Establishment and is, in effect, open rebellion (emphasis mine):

So let me try to answer your question. The people that Ted Cruz appeals to are the conservatives that have been betrayed by the Washington establishment for 30 years, by Republican candidates that run for office saying they’re going to balance the budget and lie. Republican candidates that run and say they’re going to overturn Obamacare and lie. Republican candidates who say vote for me and I’m going to have a humble foreign policy and lie.

The Republican establishment in Washington, D.C. — hold on — has been lying. They’ve been lying to the Republican base for 30 years and that is who is going to vote for Ted Cruz because if you’re that person you’re not going to vote for Marco Rubio because Marco Rubio is a big government Republican.

You’re not going to vote for Jeb Bush because Jeb Bush is a Bush. You’re not going to vote for Donald Trump because Donald Trump has been a Democrat most of your life. Who are you going to vote for if you are a Republican who is sick and tired of being lied to and the Republicans in Washington have three decades of lying.”

It will not be business as usual – you have lost our Trust.  So why vote for you?  As Steve said, it is only their legislation and their votes that we “listen” to – words lie.  Value matter not to them (nor character, so it seems).

And as we have been blogging the last few days, we’ve seen most of the NH State Senate Republicans (e.g, Bradley, Stiles, Morse, Boutin, et al) turn their backs on OUR values and the smaller government ideal.  Ditto for NH State Rep Joe LaChance.  They campaigned as Conservatives – they lied.

What will you do?
