It is often said that liberals are guilty of “projection” – ascribing to others their own character flaws. From that, it would be reasonable to infer, with all the sound and fury of Rubio calling Cruz a liar over illegal immigration, that the source of the lies might be closer to home.
A couple of weeks back, Chris Crane, President of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, was interviewed by Breitbart, and accused Rubio of treating himself and other witnesses against the gang of eight amnesty bill with great disrespect during senate hearings, apparently at the behest of Chuck Schumer. Rubio immediately went on offense, attempting to discredit Crane, calling him a union hack and belittling Crane’s military service.
Bad Move! As Joe Miller reports today, this has caused an outpouring of support for Crane and denunciations of Rubio from police and sheriffs across the nation – again, Breitbart:
Prominent sheriffs throughout the country, however, have rushed to Crane’s aide–praising him for his “courage to tell the truth amidst attacks.”
“ICE Officer Chris Crane is as much a real federal law enforcement officer as Marco Rubio is a real U.S. Senator,” said conservative Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, Arizona.
Sheriff Babeu was recognized by the National Sheriff’s Associate as “Sheriff of the Year” in 2011, and he has been described as one of nation’s “toughest immigration sheriffs.”
“Officer Crane has helped expose the failures of ICE and President Obama to enforce immigration laws that have compromised the safety of our nation,” Sheriff Babeu continued. “I’m proud of his service to our nation and courage to tell the truth amidst attacks.”
