Doodlings on The Donald (& Fearless Ted, too)

This morning, Rick wrote an excellent piece on The Donald, and the reasons for his appeal – I got a little carried away in the comments section, and so Skip said “Post It!” Here goes:

TrumpAt first I objected to Trump as the thin-skinned egotistical autocrat, then I watched and listened, and I realized that the energy which operates Trump’s anti-gravity device, and powers those impregnable shields, is the anger of the people, which is boosted to a higher pitch every time the usual suspects, who are wrecking our country, try to destroy Trump. The more they throw at him, the higher he soars, and the more impregnable his armor!

As Limbaugh pointed out last month, the media DARE NOT ignore him, because their audience wants them to cover the fun and games, and will tune elsewhere if they don’t.
The GOPe keep throwing insults and straw candidates at him, and the public ignores them.
The outsiders continue to dominate the game, and THAT field is narrowing: Trump dominates, Cruz climbs, Carson burns out, Fiorina fights to be noticed.

On the Establishment side, almost nobody will quit until they run out of either money or useful idiots, IE Sununu for Kasich, or McQuaid for Christie. Rubio has put himself squarely in the Establishment/Neocon camp, and is struggling to stand out as a result. As I pointed out recently, it’s a demolition derby on that side of the house.

NEVER before have the DC establishment suffered so much blowback from their attempt to rig the game – they thought they’d shut out Cruz – puhleze – did they really think it would work? However, they got TRUMPED, instead. It’s a beautiful thing, and I concede that Trump is in it for good patriotic reasons – if he wins, I will support, ESPECIALLY if it hastens the end of the GOP as we currently know it.

But, the sum of all their fears would be Cruz anywhere near the Oval Office – Trump *might* deal, but Cruz won’t back down – government WILL shrink if he has anything to do with it. If those two team up, the establishment won’t be able to “Goldwater” them, won’t be able to silence them, won’t be able to define them – it will be the most fun we’ll ever have. Please – let it be so!
