No Warming Trend in My Corner of NH

PSNH Temp Graph Merrimack NH

My electric bill has the average monthly temperate on it. It actually has last years average monthly temperature and this year’s. I have at least 7 year’s worth of this data available to me.  So I collected it, generated an annual average temperature for each year, and plotted it out above.

Based on this data the 12-month average temperature is not rising.

To compare, a quick check with Google confirmed that annual average temps (from US Climate Data.com) for other parts of the state were close to the electric bill trend. Nashua’s annual average temperate is 47.45 degrees Manchester clocks in at 48 degrees. Concord is 46.3, and Conway 43.9 degrees.

The annual average for all the years listed on my electric bills is 49.8 degrees. That’s probably a product of rounding because we are not warmer than the two heat islands to our north and south, Nashua and Manchester.

My results may be skewed up by a degree or two but I was much more interested in the trend line, even for a sample of years this small. While the Climatists and Thermomunists will rant and invoke their commandments, the average temperature is not going up, and last year was not even close to the warmest year on record, in my corner of New Hampshire.
