What The Manchester Paper Will Not Report

Hey, I tried.

Last night I thought I would visit the Trump Phenomenon in person at a school in Nashua , doors open at 5 pm. I was stuck in traffic starting about a mile from the road the school is on. When I made it to my left turn towards the school parking lot there was a sign saying the lot was full. This was by now about 6:15 and no end to the traffic was in sight.

I turned onto a residential street and for at least a half mile the sides of the road, where possible, were lined with parked cars and groups of people in their 30’s and 40’s were walking towards the Trump event.

In all that time in traffic I saw not one Trump bumper sticker and only about four large Trump signs. This is unlike most political events I have attended, or attempted to attend, in my time observing NH primary campaigns. I thought I would at least see some “Don’t Tread on Me” stickers, second amendment stickers, or some evidence that this event had some history about it. Nope. I saw one spare tire cover sporting a U.S. Marines cover, not much else.

From what I could see from Rt.3 there was a four abreast line of people waiting to get in and that line had to be thirty yards long.

All I wanted to do is photograph any protesters who might have shown up so I could link them with the various professional interstate protester/voter crowd but I didn’t find a three quarter mile hike worth the effort.

After seeing this Trump event from afar I have a suggestion for the Republican Party elites who have not bowed out – put on some dark glasses and a floppy hat and see, in person, what you are up against.
