Hillary Clinton Once Again Trying To Solve Problems That She Caused

Arlington, VA — Hillary Clinton is in New Hampshire today, where she will propose yet another tax credit . . . this time intended to aid the manufacturing industry.

Clinton pledged this morning to help “revitalize the hardest-hit manufacturing communities,” but few policies have hit the manufacturing industry harder than President Obama’s energy regulations—and Clinton supports them 100 percent.

Freedom Partners Senior Policy Advisor Andy Koenig Issued The Following Statement:

“Rather than adding to the loopholes, handouts, bailouts, and carveouts that have come to characterize our complicated tax code, Americans deserve real solutions, real jobs, and real growth. Clinton’s proposed tax credit is an admission that the policies she supports—like President Obama’s EPA regulations—are devastating the economy. It’s time for politicians like Hillary Clinton to stop pandering to secure their own jobs and fight for Americans’ jobs.”

Clinton Is Calling For A $30 Billion Taxpayer-Funded Bailout To Aid Communities Hurt Most By Her Energy Policies

“Democratic Presidential Front-Runner Hillary Clinton On Thursday Released A $30 Billion Plan Aimed At Revitalizing Communities Dependent On Coal Production.” (Laura Meckler & Amy Harder, “Hillary Clinton Unveils Plan to Aid Coal Communities Hit By Shift to Cleaner Energy,” The Wall Street Journal, 11/12/15)

“Mrs. Clinton’s Plan Includes Federal Money . . . For New Investment In Communities Hit By A Decline In Coal Production, Such As Many Towns In Appalachia.” (Laura Meckler & Amy Harder, “Hillary Clinton Unveils Plan to Aid Coal Communities Hit By Shift to Cleaner Energy,” The Wall Street Journal, 11/12/15)

“The Plan Released Thursday Is Her First Attempt To Lay Out How She Would Aid Places That Are Economic Losers In The Green Economy She Envisions.” (Laura Meckler & Amy Harder, “Hillary Clinton Unveils Plan to Aid Coal Communities Hit By Shift to Cleaner Energy,” The Wall Street Journal, 11/12/15)

President Obama And Hillary Clinton Both Admitted That Their Energy Policies Would Affect American Families

Then-Senator Obama Said In 2008: “Under My Plan . . . Electricity Rates Would Necessarily Skyrocket.” (Erica Martinson, “Uttered In 2008, Still Haunting Obama,” Politico, 04/05/12)

Then-Senator Clinton Said In 2007: “Will How We [Reduce Emissions] Affect The Average American?’ Yes It Will. That’s Part Of What We’re Going To Have To Tell People.” CLINTON: “Will how we do it [reduce emissions] affect the average American?’ Yes it will. That’s part of what we’re going to have to tell people. I advocate a cap and trade system. . . . I want to use some of it [carbon credits], though, to cushion the costs that will come onto the American consumer.” (“Democratic Presidential Debate,” C-SPAN, December 2007)

That Means Something Has To Be Taken Away From Some People.” CLINTON: “You know, we can’t keep talking about our dependence on foreign oil and the need to deal with global warming and . . . just let business as usual go on. And that means something has to be taken away from some people.” (“Presidential Forum,” CNN, June 2007)

Yet Earlier This Year Clinton Changed Tune And Said Her Energy Proposals Would Not Increase Energy Bills

According To NH1 News, “Asked If Her Plans Would Increase The Energy Bills For New Hampshire Residents . . . Clinton Said ‘No.’” “Clinton’s visit to the first-in-the-nation primary state came two days after she unveiled the first of her proposals to combat climate change. A big part of her initial push involves solar power. Asked if her plans would increase the energy bills for New Hampshire residents, who pay some of the highest costs in the nation, Clinton said ‘no.’” (Paul Steinhauser, “Clinton Disagrees With Obama Move On Arctic Drilling,” NH1 News, 07/28/15)

The Facts: Under President Obama’s EPA Regulations—Which Clinton Supports—Energy Costs In New Hampshire (And The Rest Of The Country) Would Skyrocket

Under The EPA’s New Regulations, Electricity Rates Would Increase By 14.5 Percent In New Hampshire By The Year 2030. (“EPA’s Clean Power Plan An Economic Impact Analysis,” National Mining Association, Energy Ventures Analysis, November 2015)
