Mao’s Cultural Revolution: Ivy League Dartmouth style

Remember that word: submission.  Be it Islam or Progressivism, that is the desired outcome of you to it.  In my previous post, I wondered if this Safe Space / Freedom from Offense / PC Totalitarianism of only designated Speech was going to burn hot / flame out or spread like Ebola into a more general population and accomplish the age old goal of Socialist Democrats everywhere: first, the overthrow of the First Amendment and then rapidly, everything else in the Constitution that was created to both limit Government and keep it (supposedly) out of our day to day lives.  Sadly, a lot of that last bit has already been lost – is this now throwing gas onto that emerging Freedom conflagration?  If we look at Dartmouth, perhaps (emphasis mine):

My friend is texting me about a Black Lives Matter protest that happened at Dartmouth last night. Apparently it started as a standard march and chant across campus and devolved into black students screaming at individuals in the library and calling them out by name for not protesting. It’s finals period so the library is packed with people trying to study, and some of the protesters screamed at people they knew who were doing work and demanded to know why they weren’t protesting. One kid sang a song in the library (when the protest was still “peaceful”) and people clapped when he was done. Then a girl in the protest said “F*** you, white people. You can clap for us but you aren’t f***ing standing up here with us. F*** you.”

Right – Freedom to demand coercion.  Frankly, this is not about race relations (although it is clear that we see black privilege in this moment where “victims” on one of the richest college campuses in the world (if you are there, how can you be, by socio-definition, be a victim?  Being at Dartmouth is a BIG privilege status).

But tell me – is screaming at people going to change heart and minds? Calling them racists?  I doubt it, but it will bring about submission, even if just temporarily.  Mostly though, I bet it will bring resentment:

Other protesters said that anyone not protesting is a racist and called one girl “rich white human filth.” Some people who were trying to study ran out of the library crying after protesters swarmed their tables and screamed in their faces. One kid joined the protest just because he was scared. They screamed at two girls on [one of the college teams] (both of whom I know and love) for being in the library–meanwhile BOTH girls had participated in the protest earlier and left to study. Another protester said “you are all murdering us in the streets f*** all of you f*** your white privilege and comfort.”

Can you even believe this?

Sure can – again, we are seeing the culmination of poor parental parenting coupled with self-esteem based teaching capped off with participation trophies (is THIS what these protests are, the college version of little kiddie soccer trophies?) festered by radical professors that have infiltrated in from the 60’s to change the mindset of the newer generations (a point I have and will continue to repeat over an over).

Manners, politeness, regard for others, respect for others and those in charge (not TOTAL respect, this is GraniteGrok after all – a healthy skepticism is always needed and warranted) – certainly we see no evidence of that in this vignette from Dartmouth.

No, this is the nano-version of the Cultural Revolution: you must renounce your past ways, history, and thinking and you WILL submit to mine.  Or, as we see, we will intimidate you anyway we can.

But I also ask: where were the paid staff that are supposed to maintain order?  Or were they cowering behind their desks or retreated to the far, dusty stacks, quivering in fear?

Once again, we see the offspring of those that pledged their lives and fortunes giving in to the Tyranny of the Minority.  This is ALL about Power, plain and simple.
