So when Chris Matthews says that Bernie best represents the Dems... - Granite Grok

So when Chris Matthews says that Bernie best represents the Dems…

…he should know.  And if he knows, and is willing to let on, how much further Left has the Dems NOT been willing to admit to?

Remember, before becoming a “journalist” (ok, talking head), he was a long term Democrat Party operative.  And here he is, telling everyone how far Left the Democrat Party has gone.

Pretty much, I think the question is not what is the difference is between the Democrats and Socialists, but would there be much difference between their future for the United States and what is happening in the self-proclaimed Socialist State of Venezuela (hope you stashed some T.P. away) or Cuba.

Remember the context here – the Dems, the Media, and the Establishment Rs have all lashed out at the TEA Party for “dragging” the Party rightward. For years now, I have said that categorization has been wrong and well off the mark.  Rather than rightward, it has tried to bring the country (and the Party) back to its roots in being a Constitutionally based entity – one that doesn’t just give lip service to it but, you know, actually lives it?  But even the Establishment has fallen for the meme (actually, I think it is more the case that their applecart has been upset and the TEA Party’s Big Flashlights have shown what’s been going on for years in their back room dark corners – and they don’t like it a bit!

The Dems wish to regress back to a time where a royal aristocracy ruled their subject – monarchy, royalty / socialism, bureaucracy; what difference will it make then? The same old situation that was the norm for thousands of years will exist once again – a small cadre of privileged mono-culture elites will expect the rest of us to do their bidding and service their decrees, demands, and desires.

The word will not be ever uttered but the results will be the same.  Instead of being the sovereign citizens that happen to have a government, the word “serfs” will pretty much describe it all.  After all, in a socialist State, all the decisions are made “for” you and not by you.

And what does that make one, even if materially we might be still better off than the serfs of old with rough clothes, a mud thatched hut, and sleeping on a pile of reeds or rushes?

Update:  Forgot I had bookmarked this from Powerline (emphasis mine):

The Democratic contenders for 2016 are dealing with a party that has shifted left in the 14 years since the end of Bill Clinton’s presidency. In 2000, according to an October report from the Pew Research Center, 43% of Democrats identified themselves as moderate, 27% as liberal and 24% as conservative. In 2015, 41% of Democrats think of themselves as liberal—a 14-point jump. The moderates’ share of the party dropped to 35%, the conservatives’ to 21%. Half of the Democrats who participate in the 2016 nominating process are likely to be liberal. . .

The Dems have gone MUCH further Left than the Rs have gone Right.
