Feminist Contradiction: How can one be a victim AND empowered at the same time?

Hmm, I just can’t decode this logic.  Professor Suzanne Venker was “disinvited” from giving a “harmful” speech at uber-Liberal Williams College – apparently, the students there think they are adults but prove they are little better than children. Its “paper of record”, The Williams Record, has a pitful editorial that, well, mirrors well what Venker was saying on Fox and Friends this past Friday (emphasis mine):

Uncomfortable Learning scheduled and later cancelled a talk by Suzanne Venker, founder of Women for Men, a news and opinion website that claims that the feminist movement results in female privilege and discrimination against men. While we at the Record believe Venker’s views are wrong, offensive and unacceptable, it is difficult to determine whether or not there would have been enough educational value in her lecture to justify an appearance, given that her presence on campus would have hurt students who face sexist and homophobic stereotypes.

Once again, we see Political Correctness (aka Cultural Marxism – the use and manipulation of culture and language to put a stake into E Pluribus Unum) in full display.  Hey kiddies – if you can’t stand the idea of having to be in the real world, go back to your safe space(s).  The rest of us call them “playpens” for you really are little tots, your expansive say-not-much vocabulary to the contrary.

Though Venker’s speech is legally protected, the College, as a private institution, has its own set of rules about what discourse is acceptable. In general, the College should not allow speech that challenges fundamental human rights and devalues people based on identity markers, like being a woman. Much of what Venker has said online, in her books and in interviews falls into this category. While free speech is important and there are problems with deeming speech unacceptable, students must not be unduly exposed to harmful stereotypes in order to live and learn here without suffering emotional injury. It is possible that some speech is too harmful to invite to campus. The College should be a safe space for students, a place where people respect others’ identities. Venker’s appearance would have been an invasion of that space.

So much for that First Amendment stuff – PC is has infested every cell of their beings.  I remember my time in college – it was anything goes and be ready to defend yourself.  And yes, I was the token conservative even back then.  At least, however, the others understood that this WAS the time to talk, discuss, argue, and even yell at times.  But these pansies today, well, that’s exactly what they are.  They have misunderstood that the First Amendment does not have any idea of hate speech, acceptable speech, political speech – it protects all kinds of speech.  Why should these intellectual infants believe that Big Daddy College should keep “challenges” away from you? If “some speech is too harmful ” for you to bear, instead of analyzing the speech, you should be analyzing yourself and your classmates.

But that would be the response of adults, wouldn’t it?

I caught just the last part of Venker’s words but it pretty much summarizes the stupendous state of being that is 3rd wave feminism:

I invite anyone to read, as I said, the actual speech and see if it isn’t any way harmful or enough to scare you away because I am saying something that is unsafe as…as they….but that doesn’t surprise me that is the issue with feminism is that you….its rooting everything about feminism is rooted in victimhood and it is trying to teach you to be empowered.  And there is no way to be empowered if you are constantly going through life believing you are a victim.

She’s right – but not just about “feminism” – it’s the whole campus environment that is teaching these nitwits to wallow in their emotions and that everyone else is responsible for them instead of “manning up” and stand up for themselves like the adults we wish they would be at this stage of their lives instead of decamping to “Romper Room” safe spaces equipped with soft bean bag chairs, teddy bears, and Play-dough.  Victims all – the Pilgrims and those in the First Continental Army would be SO proud of their descendants.

Tthese are our “next leaders” that may have to protect us from the Islamic Horde?  God help us all.
