Read the First Amendment much, Democrats?

Democrat-Obama-Confederate-ItemsFreedom of Speech, Right of conscious – two pillars of American Exceptionalism that ideas matter and that the Federal Government was PROHIBITED from restricting individuals from their God given and natural law rights.  Yet, it looks like the Democrats in California have both forgotten that little aspect and are all too willing to trample it and the pillar of Federalism.  This from Breitbart (emphasis mine, reformatted):

The California legislature reconvened on August 17, and one of their first acts of business has been the passage of a joint resolution calling on Congress to enact a federal ban on the Confederate flag. The resolution, Assembly Joint Resolution 26, is sponsored by Assemblywoman Shirley Weber (D-San Diego). It urges Congress to ban the Confederate flag from being displayed on federal property and to “ban the use of Confederate States of America symbolism from state symbols.”

According to CBS Sacramento, AJR 26 was “unanimously approved with 74 votes.” Weber pushed the resolution by suggesting that “Confederate flags shouldn’t be displayed in honor but should instead be presented as a reminder of the country’s dark days.”

Breitbart News previously reported that on July 16, the Fresno City Council voted to ban the Confederate flag from city property. Their vote came two weeks after the Memphis City Council voted to dig up the body of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest and to sell the city’s statue of him “to anyone who wants it.” Fresno’s action came just one week after the New Orleans City Council’s vote declaring Confederate statues a “nuisance” so they could be removed.

On July 9, House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) (D-CA-12th Dist.) argued for banishing the Confederate flag, suggesting that doing so “is about our morals.”

Yeah, shutting people up certainly is a Democrat moral, isn’t it, Nancy?  They’ve tried it with us – how’s that worked out, eh?  They do it to Establishment Republicans and from her own actions, it is clear that NH GOP Chair Jennifer Horn has inculcated this as she is all so willing to throw people under her bus so that no political mud (generally stirred up by the Democrats) falls on her.  Their High Rampart has done it so much that the backlash has started.

Do these people even THINK about what they are saying and doing?

No, the Constitution is an embarrassment to the Democrats as it allow folks like us to call them nasty names (their words) by extremists (who knew that utilizing and stressing Rights was “extremist”?) bring up topics antithetical to their agenda, and acts as an impediment to their agenda.  They see no limiting factor to or for Government.  Read what Progressives say here “Progressive view of the Proper Role of Government“; do the quotes comport with the both the ideas of limited Government and the freedom and liberty of the Individual?

Yet, they persist in demanding things like this to cut off debate, reject our own history (e.g., “those that do not remember their history….”), and silence others.  They persist in demanding that the Role of Federalism go the way of dinosaurs and it should be the Tyranny of Federalism in such a call that the Feds should control what the States can and cannot do.  Tenth Amendment also a “stick in yer craw” deal, Democrats?

Look, the rush to be Political Correct at the State level is craziness as well from my lowly perch.  History is what it is – to hide it or to make it “unperson” (to implement Orwell’s “1984”) is inanity and sticking one’s head into the sand and just taking the bad idea from our Ivory Towers that says that ideas that offend us should be shouted out of existence.  This is a “Free Country” ideal?

One can make the argument that at least it is the States that are making the decisions.  Yet, is this the rightful purview of Government?
