Terrible Public Policy

Governors are looking for ways to push back against the Supreme Court ruling mandating Gay Marriage. The Hill has an article and it includes this gem.

Gay rights activists warn that any acts of perceived defiance would threaten to undermine the legal system.

“It’s a dangerous message for southern governors to disobey an order from the Supreme Court,” said Marc Solomon, national campaign director at Freedom to Marry.

“The notion that public employees get to pick and choose which laws they follow based on their religious beliefs is a really dangerous precedent and a terrible public policy,” he added. “If you’re a public official, you need to carry out those laws, and you don’t get to decide whether they’re right or wrong.

Obama is a public employee. All of his bureaucrats are public employees. They pick and choose which “laws” to follow based on less tenuous circumstances than the constitutionally protected right to religious expression. In fact, they create laws to follow that violate religious rights. They ignore laws or portions of law, even change the terms on a whim if it might be politically inconvenient to enforce them as written or they don’t do what they want.

So is that “really dangerous precedent and terrible public policy” Marc, or is it acceptable for politicians you support, on issues you may agree with, “to decide whether they’re right or wrong”?

I only ask because I’m betting that Google will not have much (along a similar vein) to cough up from you with regard to the 30 or so changes made just to ObamaCare by this administrative. And I doubt I’ll find much else from you in defense of the law as written with regard to any other wild-imaginings of this administration or its army of public officers, all deciding for themselves what is right and wrong.
