“Sanders: ‘We have got to apologize for slavery'”

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday said the nation owes an apology for slavery.  “As a nation — I don’t think as a president, but as a nation — we have got to apologize for slavery,” the 2016 Democratic presidential contender told host Joe Madison on Sirius XM’s “The Black Eagle.”  “As a nation we have got to apologize for slavery, and of course the president is the leader of the nation,” he added.

Sanders said that slavery had caused too much suffering to remain unaddressed.“Obviously nobody in this generation was involved in slavery,” Sanders said.

And that is the point point of major #FAIL.

I would agree with that last statement (except we do, on a regular basis, see stories where people have been enslaved, still, in this country).  But with respect to what he is talking about, he’s right.  We as a country made amends for it in the most bloody war America was in – the Civil War, but that was now 150 years ago.  No, things were not perfect but actual slavery was formally and legally done away with by Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

Progressivism is all about the guilt – you name it, they’ve got a name for it and this one is White Guilt / White Privilege.  Look, you go there, I go to MY family’s history – the Celts and the Vikings.  At various times (if you know anything about European history at ALL), each took the other as slaves. So, who would I rant over for MY history of slavery?

No one.  Not a single person and nor should I get one either from Ireland / Scotland or Sweden, as no one alive there is responsible, either.

And that is the crux of this silly supposition – expecting people to be guilty of and responsibility for something that others did.  Long ago.  You didn’t partake in this dastardly episode, nor I.  Frankly, I have NO feeling to participate in this self-loathing exercise.  I’m simply not guilty and I do resent somebody who KNOWS I did demanding I be guilty of something I’m not.  Don’t put responsibility onto me for something that is not mine.

But again, that’s part of the Socialist demeanor – you are always at fault and it is also a Collective thing.  After all, we’re all in this together, right?

Yeah, another phrase that has been perverted to another use.  Sorry, sir, stop trying to clap us all into your Collectivism.  Guilt is being used to move society to an endpoint not of my making nor wish – but certainly theirs.

Don’t let them.  Stand up, for guilt is only a tool for them only if you allow it.
