Dead Bank Rising – Dems Vote For Corporate Welfare

DeadHandRisingWhilst we at Granite Grok expend a lot of pixels excoriating Republicans who cannot seem to grasp the basics of the Party Platform or the wishes of their voters, we also love to point out the hypocrisy of Democrats (and they are ALWAYS hypocritical).

Especially in an election year, you will hear plenty from Democrats and Socialists (because they are ALL Socialists, but only Bernie Sanders is honest about it) about Republicans and tax giveaways to “big business” and about “corporate welfare”. What they really mean is that they object when a large, profitable, company gets any kind of tax break, such as for R&D, or for oil exploration, but they love it when taxed or printed monies are given away to union dominated companies, such as underwriting Boeing’s exports, or buying GM and giving it to the unions.

Much has been written, deservedly, over the duplicity of ‘Mulch’ McConnell in pretending to let the Export-Import Bank die in June, while secretly promising RINOs and Dems, that it would rise from the dead as soon as he found a popular ‘must pass’ bill to attach it to. It is also true that about half of GOP senators voted for it (including ours, natch). But LET ME BE CLEAR (a little Obama lingo there) EVERY Democrat present voted FOR the amendment to a highway bill which would zap the corpse of ExIm back to everlasting life. (Sanders was not present)

So, if the Democrats are the REALLY bad guys, why do we beat on poor ol’ Mitch? Oh, he didn’t just allow the amendment which would exhume ExIm to be offered, he offered it himself, and blocked all other amendments except a guaranteed to fail protest vote on Obamacare. No wonder Cruz was as mad as hell!
