So, where is the NH GOP’s position on these momentus US Supreme Court decisions?

NHGOPElephantThe NH GOP generally has something to say about any reasonably important political happening.  I surely expected to have email missives from them from yesterday on the Obamacare decision.  After all, it is in the Statement of Principles:

Support the repeal of Obamacare and oppose its implementation in New Hampshire

Why isn’t NH GOP Chair Jennifer Horn shoving out any message concerning the decision yesterday?  Leading the fight, rallying the troops! After all, it is her responsibility in defending those Principles, right?  But not even a slight squawk?  Oh yeah,  it was the NH State Senate Republicans that implemented Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion here in NH.  How COULD they even consider saying anything against it?  Once again, it seems, that leadership is showing by their actions that it is more important to support Republican elected officials even if they are cross-wise with our duly constituted Principles.  Winning comes first; who cares what happens later seems to be the message of the day.

Secondly, why have we heard nothing about today’s Supreme Court decision on homosexual marriage?  It seems that this new Right has been made out of the same whole judicial cloth from which Roe vs Wade was created (the most reviled and universally condemned decision in the modern age).  It too, goes cross-wise to the Platform:

 Recognize marriage as the legal and sacred union between one man and one woman as ordained by God, encouraged by the State, and traditional to humankind, and the core of the Family

It seems that the Supremes decided that the Amendments went 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,11,12……totally skipping the 10th Amendment that enumerates that any Power not specifically previously enumerated belongs to the various States.  Instead, the Progressive majority decided to keep that Progressive momentum alive and continue the march to turning our political world upside and further erasing the idea of Federalism.  Not up to defending that, Jennifer?

Oh, but then again, we have the NH GOP Committeewoman Juliana Bergeron signing onto the amicus brief that directly contradicted the Party Platform and demanded that the Supremes decree for gay marriage.  Hope she is satisfied that she betrayed the trust that demands her office defend what the Party believes.  IMHO?  She should resign.  Not because she personally may support homosexual marriage but that she abused her political position contra what NH GOP Republicans said were the Party Principles.

But back to the original purpose of this post – the inability or recalcitrance of the Party leadership to defend the Principles that the activists and members of the Party dutifully discussed, debated, and voted on.  If you cannot defend that, Honor should demand that those that cannot and will not, should resign.  Activists are willing to fight those Principles – they deserve to have elected officials that do the same.

But I guess that’s just too much to ask.  After all, it seems that winning is the ONLY thing that’s important.

So I ask this question to other Conservative activists – why are we so willing to fight for a Party that is not willing to stand up and fight for the Principles that WE believe in?  Why do we keep letting “the elite” say one thing during campaigning, vote for them, and then watch them walk away from those utterances after “the win” with (effectively) “so what”?
