Let them eat restraining orders!

Those of you who know me know I am one of the founders of the Women’s Defense League of NH (WDL), an organization dedicated to firearms education and training and legislative advocacy.  In that capacity, WDL and I have been working with NH’s other firearms organizations for nearly a year on SB 116, a bill making optional NH’s pistol license.  The bill would also place in statute a clear-cut definition of the term “suitable”, a definition currently left to the sole discretion of local law enforcement.

After nearly 3 months of asking to meet with Governor Maggie Hassan to discuss women’s rights and the racial and ethnic discrimination codified in NH RSA 159:6, the pistol license statute, WDL was, under the guise of it being preparatory to an actual meeting with Her Radiance, granted an audience with her Deputy Most High Minion Christopher Kennedy and another staffer.

His Minion-ness averred as how he appreciated hearing our “perspective” that “suitable” did not mean what he KNOWS it means, that women who believed they were wrongfully denied a pistol license could seek legal recourse, that if we were to do away with 159:6, we might as well do away with tax laws ’cause tax cheaters were gonna cheat just like criminals were not gonna apply for pistol licenses, that nearly 100 years of discrimination weren’t that at all.

But of everything he said, this was the funniest: that the WMUR-filmed, staged-with-children-photo-op that was Her Radiance’s very public, pre-SB-116-vote-in-the-House meeting with “Mom’s Demand Action NH” was merely coincidence, that WMUR was there filming an executive council meeting anyway and, of course, any prole is free to use the executive council chambers for whatever fun get-together they choose.

Yours truly knows differently:

The “Moms Demand Action” group that you referred to below met with staff prior to scheduling the meeting with the Governor. Again, I would be happy to connect you with Kerry McHugh to set up a meeting. Please let me know.

Thank you again,

So, we was had, says I.  There was never gonna be a meeting with Her Radiance, just His Prepubescence, Chistopher Kennedy.

We did leave him with this thought:  Should she veto SB 116, we would then understood clearly that Her Radiance was actually okey dokey with allowing 92 years of state-sanctioned discrimination to not only remain on the books, but continue unrestrained by anything except the mood of LLE……..
