The ruling in King v. Burwell will determine whether the Supreme Court believes Democrats must live with their own words or not.
Democrats wrote the Affordable Care Act. They excluded taxpayer bailouts to states that do not build their own exchanges (in part) to force them to build them, and (in part) to punish those who did not climb on board the hopey-changey-health-care-bus.
Democrats bribed Democrat members of congress to pass it. They insisted we had to pass it to see what was in it. This is what was in it.
If SCOTUS rules that the Feds have to follow the law as written (by Democrats) and can’t dish out taxpayer bailouts to hide rate hikes driven by up ObamaCare because that is what they passed in to law, some people’s insurance premiums will get very, VERY, expensive.
Democrats have lied about this bill before, during, after, and ever since, and will continue to lie no matter what happens. But they only have themselves to blame.
The only thing we can blame Republicans for is allowing it all to be funded. For failing to send another repeal bill to Obama every week they control congress. For refusing to pass alternatives–complete with press on why you are the best judge of what coverage you need–shuffled to Obama’s desk begging for an endless trail of vetoes. For claiming they’d lead, and failing to even come close. For waiting on the courts to finally do their job for them.
We can continue to blame them for that, and that is a lot.
But Republicans didn’t write a word of it. They didn’t vote for any of it. So if it falls apart, blame the builders, the social engineers, and their communications directors in the media, all of whom are Democrats.
Democrats passed the law so they could find out what was in it. No taxpayer bailouts for states without exchanges is what’s in it.
