Constitutional Carry advances in NH House: What will Governor Hassan do?

Today Senate Bill 116 aka Constitutional Carry was passed in bi-partisan fashion in the New Hampshire House. There was little debate on the floor with 3 representatives arguing for the bill and only 2 arguing against it. No questions were asked and the bill passed 212 – 150. The bill will go to the Senate conference committee and then be sent to Governor Hassan.

Interesting today that Governor Hassan also met with the paid hacks of Moms Demand. When these women gave testimony at the committee hearing previously, it was clear they were completely out-of-touch and had no idea what the bill was about. They only seek to continue the decades long practice of racism and discrimination that the pistol license law allows. The Governor has not yet met with the Women’s Defense League of New Hampshire, the only active women’s 2nd Amendment organization in New Hampshire, who requested a meeting according to their press release:

We understand Governor Hassan met with an organization funded by out-of-state gun control extremist Michael Bloomberg and claims she will veto the bill but we believe the Governor will be fair and balanced and meet with the Women’s Defense League as we’ve already requested.

Governor Hassan cannot know the discrimination that is occurring against women and other minorities in the Granite State but we do know she’s an ardent defender of women’s rights.

The New Hampshire GOP also sent out a press release:

“Gun control advocates like Governor Hassan want to undermine the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens while criminals continue to ignore gun control laws. It’s clear that Governor Hassan is trying to curry favor with radical out-of-state gun control groups who can funnel money into her United States Senate campaign instead of standing up for the rights of New Hampshire gun owners.”

And of course, what would the passage of 2nd Amendment legislation be without the New Hampshire Democrat Party weighing in:

After New Hampshire House Republicans passed a radical bill allowing anyone to carry a concealed weapon without a license, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley thanked Governor Hassan for standing up for law enforcement and public safety.

Democrats once again don’t side with Granite Staters but side with the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police who want to ban certain firearms and would prefer women open carry, all the time. Apparently Democrats are for police chiefs discriminating against women and are against women’s rights. So much for their faux Republican ‘War on Women’. Looks like they’ve got this one covered all on their own. Somehow it’s ‘radical’ to support women’s rights.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. It’s obvious there is overwhelming support for this legislation in New Hampshire based on emails and phone calls in support that representatives received as well as the great numbers of people who testified in support of it. Hassan recently claimed she is believes in the 2nd Amendment yet she doesn’t actually have any 2nd Amendment credentials. She is also a firm proponent of women’s rights as she has maintained for years.

Since SB 116 is indeed a pro-choice women’s rights bill, it’s hard to see how Hassan could want to veto it. That would go against everything she claims to support. At a time when police across the country are gaining more scrutiny for their behavior, it would seem that Hassan choosing to allow police chiefs to continue to discriminate against women would not portray her in a good light; especially if Hassan actually seeks to run against Senator Kelly Ayotte in the 2016 election.
