HB136 – Where Republicans join w/Democrats to further strip parental rights over their kids

Tanning BedThanks Majority Leader Jack Flanagan for siding against the majority of your Party’s members in the NH House and voting with the Democrats.

I just heard about this bill late this afternoon – our Legislature, led by the Democrat appointed Speaker of the House Jasper and his Jaspercrats joined with pretty much all the Democrats to prohibit minors from using a tanning bed.  Once again, sticking their noses into a place where they really shouldn’t.  But, then again, that’s what Progressives do (from both Parties):

NH State Rep Leigh Webb (D): “The role of government is to legislate behavior“

HOUSE BILL 136

AN ACT prohibiting tanning facilities from tanning persons under 18 years of age.

SPONSORS: Rep. Barnes, Rock 8; Rep. Azarian, Rock 8
COMMITTEE: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs

ANALYSIS: This bill makes it unlawful for a person under the age of 18 to use a tanning device at a registered tanning facility in this state.

It is also HOW they did it that burnt my toast – and it should your’s as well.

So, what did the Democrat appointed (via their appointed Speaker) Majority Leader Jack Flanagan help the Democrats do?

1 Tanning Operations; Consent. Amend RSA 313-A:30, IV to read as follows:

IV. Operators shall read aloud and shall provide each tanning device user with a written consent statement containing the wording listed below and the Fitzpatrick Scale. [In the event that the user is under the age of 18, this wording shall be read to the user’s parent or guardian. Operators shall obtain the signature of the user or parent or guardian on the written consent prior to the initial exposure to the tanning device.] The consumer consent form shall include the following wording in at least size 12 font:

Get that?  “Operators shall obtain the signature of the user or parent or guardian in the written…”- these legislators decided they know better than Parents what should or should not be allowed for their children.  Actually, worse – they decided that Parents are numbskulls and can’t EVAH decide to do the right thing by their own children.

Now, having interacted in the past with some parents at our daycare who were idiots, I can see the point.  The problem is, once again, Progressives take their default uppity manners and decide to punish ALL Parents whether it is warranted or not.  And mostly, the vast majority of the time, it isn’t.

This was a bad decision and a bad vote regardless of “the good” they think they’ve done and patting themselves on the back with the thoughts of “Hey, we MAY have prevented a SINGLE case of cancer; it’s all worth it”.

No, they shouldn’t be getting a pat on the back – we all should be ripping them a new one for meddling in that special relationship between a parent and their child.  Stick your busybody noses in your own families and leave the rest of us alone who can get along just fine without you, thank you very much!

NH Majority Leader Jack Flanagan.  Asshat.
