"Winning is only the precusor; what you do afterwards is more important"; which is more important, Jeb Bush? - Granite Grok

“Winning is only the precusor; what you do afterwards is more important”; which is more important, Jeb Bush?

Anna NavarroI’ve been busy all day (you know, that “balance” thing) so blogging has been light.  Pretty much most Sundays, I do watch the talking head shows.  On today’s This Week, “Republican strategist” Anna Navarro who never seems to lose an opportunity to “sniff” at conservatives did exactly that.  Donna Brazille talked about the conservatives she knew that they want a true conservative to run and win; she said “I dunno if that is Jeb Bush”.  True to form, Navarro said exactly what I would have expected an Establishment Republican to say:

We have been in White House exile for 8 years. The hunger on the Republican side is to win and whomeever convinces they can then, we’ll support.”

Spoken like a true political operative in that only the “win” counts.  I also took her to mean, knowing that Jeb Bush is ticking off a whole lot of Conservatives, used that (as she has in the past) to stick a finger in Conservatives eyes.  The problem will be, can Jeb Bush win the primary elections without Conservatives?  Here in NH, he’s got a big problem (H/T: The Corner, emphasis mine):

NBC News’s Chuck Todd said a few weeks ago that it was strange to have a race with a front-runner, Jeb Bush, who hasn’t actually led in a single poll. Well, that’s no longer true. Bush leads the latest Bloomberg Politics/Saint Anselm College pollof New Hampshire primary voters with 16 percent of the vote, followed by Kentucky senator Rand Paul with 13 percent and Wisconsin governor Scott Walker with 12 percent.

But the poll isn’t all good news for Bush. A full 41 percent of the 400 Republican primary voters polled called the former Florida governor’s views on immigration, in particular his support for “allowing undocumented immigrants to stay in this country,” a “deal killer” when it comes to the possibility of him garnering their support.

And let’s not forget his fervent stance on Common Core which a ton of Conservatives see as being hijacked by the Federal Dept. of Ed with our tax monies being dangled out in front of the State DoEs and only those that are willing to grovel will get our own money back (with the typical vigorish extracted, of course).

Overall, you know, it’s pretty sad when a Democrat operative (Brazille) has a better handle on the Conservative wing of the Republican than a Republican.
