What is your response to the NH Constitution's plainly written words, State Senator Andrew Hosmer? - Granite Grok

What is your response to the NH Constitution’s plainly written words, State Senator Andrew Hosmer?

[Art.] 2-a. [The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.

Based on MY Senator’s (that would be Andrew Hosmer) response to Susan’s request to support SB116 which seeks to implement “Constitutional Carry” here in NH (just as they have had in Vermont for years with NO ill effect in that safest of safe states), I just sent email to him:

Subject: Your “half baked” response to Susan Olsen’s email to you.

Senator Hosmer,

Really, that was a proper response to Mrs. Olsen’s politely worded  email to you – “half baked”?  This seems akin to the School of Carol Shea-Porter Political Civility who, when asked a question by a Republican lady several years ago who lived in her District, snarkily dismissed her as “No, you’re not being one of my constituents” simply for being on the other side of the political aisle.

For a number of years I’ve heard the Democrats throw out the Democrat meme #WarOnWomen for many sundry reasons the last few years at those that seem to be opposed to them – using Political Correctness in a politically weaponized manner any time a Republican of any measure was deemed out of line in a sexist fashion.  But then you, a high ranking Democrat in NH, have the temerity to completely dismiss Mrs. Olsen (yes, a dear friend of mine) in such a off-handed way?  Such a fine and upstanding example of “political civility” this is not!  Or was your response, like that hashtag meme, simply the new political expediency (seeing that the Democrat #WarOnWomen has run its course and only fit to be tossed into the heap pile)?

Unlike Mrs. Olsen, I AM one of your constituents

Unlike, Mrs. Olsen, I’m a guy – what kind of response will I get from you, my State Senator when I ask you to support SB116?  Instead of a paltry back of the hand answer, I am asking for your real reason(s) why you do or do not support SB116.  Our NH Constitution says the following:

[Art.] 2-a. [The Bearing of Arms.] All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.

Very plain words and not easily open to any kind of obfuscation – no confusion possible with the words “militia” or “regulated” as with the US Constitution’s Second Amendment. It lends itself to a binary decision – either we do or we do not (e.g., one cannot sometimes be armed just like one cannot be partially pregnant).  I see that no mention within that short sentance that Government regulation / intrusion has a place into “All persons” being able to own and carry arms; or am I wrong and need new glasses?  Either the words in our Constitution have real and definitive meanings – or there is no meaning in it at all as our Foundational Law.  I maintain that, in fact, it was drawn up deliberately so as to exclude Government from someone’s decision to express this Right.  I see no penumbra or emanations possible – do you based solely on Article 2-a’s words?

Would you agree that this line of reasoning is true and logical, and that to be in conformance with our NH Constitution, SB116 should be passed?  If not, what is your reasoning as to why NH Citizens should not be allowed to act in a Constitutional manner?  Where in our Constitution is the “backdoor” that overrides it?  After all, if it is our Foundational Law, should we ALL (Citizens and Legislators) be bound to it?

After all, aren’t we better than Vermont (who has had NO problem with it “Constitutional Carry” outlook over the years)?  And if not, how so?

I look forward to your answer(s).

Kindest regards,

– Skip
