I can’t even parody this: LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM

I just had to chuckle when I read this headline – when are too many letters just silliness?

LGBT acronym not inclusive enough for Wesleyan University, which insists on LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM

…expialidocious!

This is no joke, notes Jennifer Kabbany at College Fix, by which she obviously means it is not intended to be funny. Wesleyan University, she observes (via Powerline’s Steven Hayward), “is now making sure every sexual fetish, whim, kink, orientation, impulse and desire … gets its own capital letter in the ever-growing acronym of the formerly Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer community.”

The new formulation is a mouthful. Repeat after me: LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM, which stands for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Flexual, Asexual, Genderf**k, Polyamourous, Bondage/Disciple, Dominance/Submission, Sadism/Masochism.”

Here is the official word from the university’s Office of Residential Life regarding an on-campus facility — a safe house, if you will — called “Open House” that accommodates all … er — “comers”:

Talk about jumping the shark! Heck, how would you design a flag with all that sub-sub-subsetting? Do they really expect ANYone outside of their clique(s) to really want to make sense of that, much less remember it?  Certainly not me – I have FAR better ways to waste my time (and I’ll admit, my memory isn’t as sterling as it once was to boot)  Hey, I have an idea:

How about this – it’s a lot easier to remember and a heckova lot easier to understand for those of us who have just quit caring on keeping up with the Political Correctness flavor of the Year Month Week Day Hour Minute because, truth be told, it has just gotten so dang tedious:

Anyone who isn’t normal heterosexual

See?  Easy to say, easy to spell, easy to understand.  Oh, that’s too heteronormative?  So, I don’t get a choice  in this Land of the Free – yeah, yeah, back to the Political Correctness spiel – heard it, am ignoring it. Look, there’s a whole bunch of us see Political Correctness for what it is – as sturdy a fount of truth as the will o’the wisp as the winter winds here in winter.  Which is to say – “t’aint none”.

Truth is truth – you may attempt to change it but then it isn’t truth anymore (e.g., truth doesn’t “evolve” – like freedom, it just is).    How about this – how about just calling yourself “a person” and stop making the rest of us conform to your sense of Correctness?  Look, I probably disagree with your outlook (and even may think it wrong) but if that’s what floats your boat, well, fare thee well with fathoms under your keel.

Just stop hankering to rope the rest of us in – we really just want to be left alone and boat along all by ourselves.
