The most telling part are the couple of interactions with Congressman Gosar (R-AZ):
Congressman Gosar: Folks, be careful what you tread here because if all you’re going to do is stand just for the Constitution and nothing less, you will lose. We have to have the Constitution but a plan to get back.
Man: Why would they lose if they stood for the Constitution?
G: Because, because…
Man: Is it too far to go?
G: Because not everyone believes in the Constitution. You have 50% of the people, that why you see….
Man: You think 50% of the people don’t believe in the Constitution?
Unidentifiable woman: They don’t believe in personal rights.
G: They don’t. But that’s why have to instill this and have a strategy
KAH: Abandon the Constitution…you have to put it first. It is the Supreme Law of the land; there is no compromising the Constitution. That is why we are where we are…
Yes, winning is good and losing is bad. But as I’ve been saying for a while now, winning is only a precursor; what you do afterwards is more important. If our elected leaders refuse to follow the Supreme Law of the land (our Constitution; shades of Ian Underwood “if the legislature isn’t going to respect the limits placed on it by the NH Constitution, then why should individuals respect the limits placed on them by that legislature“). Even though we believe in the phrase “Screw DC, save NH”, we do realize that what is decided in DC will effect us as well. Conservatives believe in and want the Constitution put FIRST and certainly I agree with “That is why we are where we are…” is correct as it wasn’t until the Progressive (aka incremental Socialism) Principles started to take hold in the late 1800s here in the US and the accompanying disregard for Constitutional Principles that this country really went off the rails. We have a Government FAR bigger, FAR more intrusive, and FAR more costly than was ever meant to be.
Those things that run counter to those Constitutional elements need to be stopped and tossed aside. Yes Congressman Gosar, there should be not “BUT” permitted else you become part of the problem instead of the solution because it will allow a further divergence (as if we haven’t had enough already!) from our original course – that for the first time in the history of the world that Individual sovereignty and liberty was to be the hallmark of our society and not the redistributionist (and retributive one as well) one we have become where every move is monitored by Government which is also, more and more, is micromanaging the littlest details of our lives.
