US Congressman Frank Guinta – who are you voting for for Speaker? Louie Gohmert, perhaps?

FrankAtRochester912Frank Guinta has a BIG decision to make this week – his vote for US House Speaker.  Yes, once again, politics turns to Speaker elections – Concord, Washington, same deal (sorta?  mostly?) .  Whose agenda will the next Speaker put forward – the majority Republican (which grew more conservative this election) or the Democrat one (re: all those waifish pleas for “compromise” now that the Dems (here in Concord and in DC) really find themselves in the legislative minorities).  Grokster Mike covered the US House Speaker election here:

Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) spoke to Tucker Carlson on Fox & Friends about the need for someone to step up and run against Speaker Boehner in this new Congress. He echoed what many House Members are saying that there needs to be new leadership, not just the status quo and he is happy to accept the challenge.

Over at Powerline, John Hinderaker has more on Gohmert (who I happen to have a favorable response to as well):

I have generally defended Boehner in the past, but in my view his conduct with regard to the continuing resolution/omnibus spending bill that was passed during the lame duck sessions was the last straw. Boehner has gotten too comfortable with cronyism, power brokering multi-trillion-dollar legislation negotiated in secret, always with the help of lobbyists. Gohmert hit the nail on the head:

You deceived us when you went to Obama and Pelosi to get your votes for the cromnibus. You said you’d fight amnesty tooth and nail. You didn’t, you funded it.

In 2010, Boehner and other leaders said if you put us in the majority, we will have time to read the bills. That hasn’t happened. We saw that with the cromnibus, again.

We’ll get back to appropriating and we will go through regular committee process, so every representative from both parties will have a chance to participate in the process and not have a dictator running things.

The time has come for new leadership in the House: Gohmert, or someone like him, for Speaker.

“Gohmert, or someone like him”.  Yep, that just about sums it up well.  So, what will our new (again) Republican Congressman Frank Guinta do? Will he vote for the status quo (after all, last time he was in, Boehner granted him committee memberships that few Freshman ever get) or will it be a “make up” vote for his ill thought out Continuing Resolution (“CRs”) votes on raising spending?

Which way will the pike men be facing – outward to protect your backside, or at you to protect OUR backsides?

Pike-men

The vote is coming up quick – what SHALL he do?  Yes, Frank, we will be watching closely.  We want to be able to give you a good slap for a good job, but hey, we defend Principles and not necessarily people.  Who you voting for, Frank?
