However, I bet that Presidents Dole, McCain, and Romney disagree with Senator Ted Cruz

I just don’t understand why, though…

Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, reiterated Tuesday that he believes the GOP has a track record of failure when the party nominates a presidential candidate from the “mushy middle.”

“There are a lot of folks in Washington who argue that the way Republicans should win is that they should nominate a candidate from the mushy middle,” Mr. Cruz said on “Fox and Friends.” “Someone who is right in the middle, who’s near the Democrats so there’s not much distinction. … We’ve tried that.”

“Every single time we do that, whether it’s Gerald Ford, whether it’s Bob Dole, whether it’s John McCain, whether it’s Mitt Romney, the result over and over is we lose,” he continued. “I very much agree with Ronald Reagan who said the way Republicans win is we paint in bold colors, not pale pastels — pale pastels is a path to losing.”

“Look at the great issues of the day, look at the great challenges, whether it is bringing back jobs and growth and economic opportunity, whether it’s defending our constitutional liberties or whether it is restoring America’s leadership in the world, and I think Republicans are [going to] nominate someone who will stand up and lead, who will give bold voice and action to the values that built this country,” Mr. Cruz said.

(H/T: Washington Times)  I am quite sure that  we will be hearing a lot from a number of folks as the candidate differentiation is beginning right on time.  However, as I’ve said before, there are a couple of NH GOP top ticket candidates “discovered” this truth – will Jeb Bush?

WHY JEB AND ROMNEY ARE CRAZY TO THINK THEY CAN WIN WITHOUT THE BASE: “It’s all very simple: the Republicans lost Florida in the 2012 presidential election by 0.88. If conservatives stay at home in 2016 in the same numbers as they did in 2012, then there is no chance of the GOP winning. If conservatives are advised by Governor Palin (unlike in 2012) and Mark Levin to either stay home or vote third-party, then it is impossible to see how Florida could be won by, for example, Jeb Bush. However, for argument’s sake, if, because of Bush’s Florida connection and a bad economy, Florida is won, then Ohio (-2.98%), Virginia (-3.88%), and Colorado (-5.36%) also have to be roped in. The road to 270 Electoral College votes is extremely difficult under the most optimal of circumstances; utter realism indicates that it is impossible with the slightest bleeding off of actual or potential votes from 2012.”

It only takes a few percentages so the operative questions is WHY does the GOP keep beating on its Conservative wing?  It will be interesting, as the Prez Primary Season has now begun here in NH, to see how the different candidates present themselves – which audiences will they go to FIRST and which will be seen as “leftovers”?  The answer to that may be along this line: the Establishment Republicans will probably just vote for the nominee so will they be pushed off for a bit and the potentials seek out those that may need a bit of coaxing?
