Governor Medicaid Maggie Hassan Tosses ‘Most Vulnerable’ Under the Budget Bus

Medicaid Maggie Hassan Budget MemeThis season on New Hampshire Democrat Governors,  last seasons only ‘legislative victory’–Medicaid Expansion–forces our “hero of the people” to make a difficult decision.

The budget is a problem so what is a “fiscally responsible” governor to do?  Sell grandma down the river and hope for rain.

Medicaid Maggie Hassan proposes $58 million cut from NH DHHS.

She is, to borrow from the appropriate Democrat narrative,  tossing the elderly and mental health patients under the budget bus.

Has the left lost its mind -presuming it had one to lose?

Drew Cline at the Union Leader reports that in a Democrat party press release Senator Lou ‘Millennial Gaming’ D’Allesandro said these ($58 Million in DHHS) cuts were ‘fiscally responsible.’  Hassan is down-streaming costs and cutting the DHHS budget and the Democrat party line is…it is fiscally responsible?

Did the entire New Hampshire Democrat party suffer rectal prolapse?   Both sets of circumstances, you must admit, should be exceptionally rare but here we are.

Over at the Union Leader Mr. Cline rightly begins a new game of ‘If  A Republican did that…’

Budget chaos under Democrat governors is to be expected.

When John Lynch was governor and Democrats went on a spending spree he upended state government with pay freezes, layoffs, budget cuts, furlough days and more.  Why?  Progressives ignore reality, over promise benefits and results, and find themselves looking for ways to hide their incompetence.

Medicaid expansion was a promise from a national government that is 18 trillion in debt.  But if it spends other people’s money AND has the word ‘expansion’ in it Democrats will trip over each other to support it.  Medicaid Maggie, desperate for a legislative win after a disastrous term in office couldn’t wait to sign the damn bill which she did with pride and whatever passes for pomp and circumstance in Concord.

But Medicaid expansion is just the expanded version of Medicaid.  A drug you can still get under Obamacare, pimped by Federal pushers to get states addicted.  Withdrawal symptoms are already setting in but when the feds systematically withdraw financial support, the DT’s will follow (Democrat Tremens).

In a blue state this is just another brick in a wall big enough to hide Democrats and their Republican water carriers.  In a state like New Hampshire, you can actually see the big mouth bass fighting with the hook in increasingly shallow waters.

Show me the Money

By the way, I thought the feds were paying for most of this expansion?  That was a big selling point.  If we’re already cutting 58 million from the DHHS budget…

Look in to my eye

What should Republicans and taxpayers do?  Ask questions.  Make noise.

You cut DHHS, but where else did you cut first?

Did you consider cutting the UNH budget?  They can actually raise their own money, and the are quite good at it.  Call the president of the university system and give him the bad news.  Not only are you not going to get the $200 million like you wanted, we need $58 million of what we were giving you back.  This year.   And plan to double that in the next budget. I know, it’s more than we were giving you but welcome to the liberal utopia where free means someone else has to pay and surprise! it’s your turn.

Utopia’s do not grow on trees they kill them.

How do you pay?  You may need to raise the UNH Poll Tax.   You may know the UNH poll tax by its more common title, the “Rate for out of state tuition.”  It is the price non-resident students pay to register to vote and decide our local elections in exchange for what UNH calls an education they take with them when they leave.  (Would you stay in a state that as a matter of policy defends the “right” of non residents to abuse your electoral system like a rental care?)

This policy helped give us the people who gave us Medicaid expansion, cuts to mental health patients and the elderly, and (ironically) an unavoidable increase in the annual cost of an education-voting-vacation at Club-UNH.  Don’t forget to get your voter registration form when you cross the border.  And whatever you do, don’t tell anyone when you leave.  We may need to borrow you for additional ballot box stuffing in the next presidential election.  Don’t worry, no one in NH government will ever actually investigate you, and the press will even defend you, as long as you register Democrat.

The cuts to DHHS are your fault.

Get ready for it, because it is coming.  This is not Maggie Hassan’s fault.

This season on New Hampshire Democrat Governors….after months of agonizing, Medicaid Maggie Hassan announces that she…(dramatic pause–is that a tear?) would be willing to consider breaking her pledge and supporting a broad based tax to restore these essential services.

Dramatic crescendo!

How will Medicaid Maggie’s arch nemesis respond…oh wait, she doesn’t have one of those.  Republicans pushed the expansion and the state party sat on their hands and let it happen.  The best you can hope for from them is that they wont side with the left and blame you too.

It is up to us to hold them accountable, to educate voters, and to keep this hypocrisy narrative alive, but then it always was.
