Bumped for Charlie Hebdo: the Hate – Draw Mohammed Day!

Given what the Islamists did in Paris by killing 12 satirists at Charlie Hebdo, I thought it right to bring back up some posts from 2010 from “Draw Mohammed Day” in order to show that Free Speech should be unconditional.  NO one and NO thing should be excluded just because some says “Blasphemy!”.  Yes, I was ticked off when I heard of the NEA (e.g., taxpayer funded “art”) supported “Piss Christ” but I did not pick up a gun and shoot either the artist or the guys that gave my money to this “blasphemer” in supporting it.  But Islam rejects this Classical Western Liberalism value – to speak one’s mind on whatever.  And they will accept any remedy to soothe their outrage – killing someone seems to be normal (and often, the righteous act to do).

*****************

By now, many of you have heard that the Islamic Jihadists have threatened the lives of the guys behind South Park (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) for….wait for it….showing the most horrible crime of – a cartoon version of Mohammed.  Blasphemy!

Well, for those of the Islamic faith, anyways.  The problem is that they believe they have the Right to Be Offended, which they truly believe trumps the Western idea of the Right to Free Speech.

So, what did Comedy Central do?  Did they support their show?  Did they show solidarity?

Naw, they caved.  Once more, Free Speech silenced.

But not everyone is feeding into that dhimmitude crapMAY 20, 2010

I will be employing my tremendous skill as an illustrator, of course, and expect that my colleagues will do the same. If they refuse, they will be declared weak-kneed, namby-pamby, quisling infidels and will be shamed on this blog (Though such idle threats rarely work these days; perhaps I could threaten them with a painful death, which seems to do the trick). If readers would like to show their solidarity, please email your Mohammad masterpieces to me here: mmoynihan at reason.com. The best ones will be published on Hit & Run, which, along with the concomitant death threat, is reward enough.

I only wish that I had gone further than “just barely passing intermediate stick figures in Jr. High School” – but if this comes off right, the ‘Grok will put some of the entrants up:

Everybody Draw Mohammed Day

Sounds like Jon Stewart is already on board (after the jump):
