Benedict Was Right And Francis Is Wrong

Why We Didn’t Have a Latin Pope Before, And Probably Shouldn’t In Future!

Cardinal Ratzinger, AKA Pope Benedict, is an erudite scholar of Theology and History, who grew up in Nazi Germany. He knew well the evils of Socialism and Islam and wasn’t afraid to call them out. Such a good, upstanding, and scholarly character was he, that while the rest of the world was wondering about his boyhood associations, my father-in-law (an economist and historian) was jumping for joy in his English living room that the Conclave had been wise enough to pick Ratzinger.

Subsequent events proved the Cardinals and my father-in-law to be correct – Benedict’s speeches and writings were always on the money, accurately reflecting the teachings of the church, and world history.

Amongst those writings, Cardinal Ratzinger had studied Liberation Theology in Latin America, and called it out for the evil that it truly is – basically Communist infiltration of the Catholic Church in South America. (And he hadn’t even met Jeremiah Wright’s brand of Liberation Theology!)

On one of his first trips abroad, in 2006, Benedict angered the Turkish government and Muslims world wide with a speech decrying violence in the name of religion, and containing this gem, amongst others:

The pope quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th-century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and a Persian scholar on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

“The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war,” the pope said. “He said, I quote, ‘Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.’

(In order to demonstrate the non-violent nature of their faith, Muslims protested and blew things up worldwide!)

In subsequent speeches, Benedict showed a moral clarity and directness which was refreshing, and he cautioned humans to be “good stewards of the Earth”, but at no time did he veer off into the Socialist weeds of Climate Change.

Contrast this with the emissions of Argentine Pope Francis, who also grew up under socialism and tyranny – not only has he embraced Obama’s mission of “stopping” Climate Change, but he was also instrumental in brokering the deal between Obama and the Castros. This confusion between political “justice” in the physical world, and following the morality of a higher power, is exactly the kind of thing which a younger Benedict had warned of, and which is depressingly common in Latin America.

End times? Some are claiming that ancient prophesies indicate Francis will be the last pope, meanwhile, we have the Prince of Marxist Darkness in the White House. Hmmmm….
