US Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) loses – GOP now has 9 more Senators.

Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-LA) won the Louisiana US Senate run-off against 3 term US Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), 54 – 47.  This was not unexpected as she failed to get 50% of her State’s primary election (with Republicans Cassidy and Manes splitting the vote).  The conventional wisdom was that even as she won 48% of the vote in the primary, she was toast in the runoff and thus, even her own party deserted her from the national level.

But it was clear that she would pull out all the stops and do pretty much anything for the win – including that time honored Democrat campaign trick that threatens “vote for me or YOU ALL will lose all your entitlements!”.  Yes, that time honored “pulling of the goodies”.  Doubt me?  She was so desperate that she actually put it in writing in a flier:

Mary Landrie Entitlements taken awayI think one could say that Mary Landrieu was appealing to “Romney’s 47%” – you know, those folks that the Democrats said didn’t exist and that it was cold-hearted if not downright racist to call them that.

I guess, once again, we see that old double standard at work here.  It’s “ok” when Democrats use that same set of folks and mine them for votes – it is out of bounds for Republicans to even mention it.  It’s “ok” to put these “free” entitlements out there by Democrats – and Mary Landrieu shows us in SPLENDID fashion that once given, it is perfectly good form for Democrats to then call them in as “election chits”.

I am quite sure that posting this either here or at other sites (H/T: Hot Air) will get the expected blowback – not because of any “class warfare” but simply because a Democrat got caught doing it.

Maybe.

Like I said, the Democrat Party wrote her off right after the Primary in November, so maybe it will be a complete write-off.  The problem will be is that this image will be remembered by the Internet forever – and the next time that the Dems start their wailing for “the next Romney”, it will be easy to just whip this out and go

“Really?”
