Before the GOP caucus voted for Speaker last month, the current NHGOP leadership, and “governors from the last century” weighed in with a letter endorsing Gene Chandler for the job, in the name of “civility”, and “getting along” with Democrats (why??).
The caucus voted, O’Brien won, Gene Chandler stood up and asked for a unanimous vote for O’Brien, but those leaders? Crickets. On this weekend’s Close Up, Ayotte even appeared to re-iterate her argument for Chandler (Remember, this program was recorded mid-last week).
That was then, this is now: The unseemly conniving by Shawn Jasper and Bob Mead to offer up Jasper (AKA “His Vileness”) as an alternative for Speaker, and thereby risking Gun-Grabbing Deputy Dawg Shurtleff as Speaker, has shaken the trees in the GOP forest!
We saw very quick statements of unity and support for O’Brien from NHGOP Chair Jennifer Horn, and former Governor John H Sununu – no confirmation yet whether Senator Ayotte will join the chorus of support
