NH House Rules Committee – permits concealed carry again. Jeff Wooburn sniffs.

New WMUR logoOn last night’s WMUR news came a spot on the NH House Rules Committee decision that those that have the ability to conceal carry firearms can now do so again.  Of course, a mix of Republican and Democrat legislators were asked about the results.  The Republicans, to no one’s surprise, were supportive of the decision.  Why not?  MOST (not all – those closer to the Progressive side do not) Republicans TRUST their fellow legislators (and constituents) to be responsible with their firearms even with the heated moments that will occur from time to time.

Jeff WooburnOn the other hand, Democrat Minority Senate Minority Leader Jeff Wooburn shows the Liberal knee-jerk reaction that people must be

and cannot be trusted controlled and that means that removing some of their Liberties for the sake of “the common good”.  ANYTHING that can be judged dangerous must be explicitly denied.  Even if “soothing words” must be used to shade over their true feelings – and their own ideological bent.  Like his words here:

What we need to be focused on is the issues that matter to voters and to people.  It’s about them, not about us and our ideologists.  Be practical and focus on the things that matter to people

Stop it with the name calling of “ideologist” simply to hide your disdain of someone who disagrees with you – especially when they wish to exercise their Second Amendment Right.  His overall parry though, is to take the language and move the whole discussion to the innuendo of “those that want this – they’re extremists and DANGEROUS.  This would not have been done by responsible people”.

This DOES matter to me and a lot of people like me – that’s why we sent the folks we did to Concord: to represent THIS issue that *I* care deeply about. I AM a voter and I AM a “people”.  So it isn’t about you, Jeff, it IS about me and all of us LIKE ME.  Remember – YOU said it: it is ME that matters.  And not you.

And it IS a practical everyday issue for me.  So for you to dismiss MY representatives that WE voted for to make a decision for US, well, consider this:

If it DIDN’T matter to US, would the Republicans voted for it?

OK, maybe – if nothing more than to tick you off and shove that “settled law” phrase up sideways.  After all, it was “settled” in 2010, and the Dems decided to “unsettle” it in 2012.  So look at it from this perspective:

The “unsettling” that was done has now been “re-settled” to “settled”.  So, in 2014 (if we are so unlucky), will you muck, once again, with “settled law”?
