Email Doodlings – “US House Declares Obama Amnesty “Null and Void…” Yawn….

Use the PurseYawn and yawn again.  As we have intimated before, some of our best (and snarkiest!) conversation are not here on GraniteGrok but in our (closed) email group of Groksters.  Occasionally, some of it comes out – and here is one of them as I pretty much took exception to the message of Steve’s post:  US House Declares Obama Amnesty “Null and Void…”  My take?  All hat, no cattle.  It doesn’t DO anything:

I’m saying that I’m tired of the Kabuki-for-show theater – that which appears to be “doing something” for voters but calculated to ONLY give that appearance while it accomplishes nothing.  Nothing but PR engineering.  I think the 50 gazillion votes to pass bills that repeal Obamacare have already made that clear.  Even *I* caught that message after, oh say, 20th time.

They all campaigned on it….and where do we stand?

 “We only control 1/2 of 1/3rd of Government was their cry!  We are helpless”, they cry!  “We can do nothing”, they moan.  Yet they stridently campaigned on that exact theme – all of them, not just the newbies.  So where do we stand, with the Constitution under severe political attack by Obama?  It seems like the Rs are scurrying like cockroaches to NOT carry out their campaign promises. They took impeachment off the table.  They took defunding off the table (“Obama will shut down the govt but WE will get blamed”, they wuss).

So they have unilaterally given up all the tools to reign in an out of control President given to them by the Founders in the Constitution.  They have committed Congressional disarmament (note to anti-gunners: don’t expect most of us Second Amendment folks to willingly do the same).

If they pass the CRonibus in its entirety, they can crow all they want for a year knowing that they’ve accomplished their goal – they punted.  Once again, the electorate gave a mandate to the Rs to stop Obama and they don’t have an ounce of courage to split between them.  Squandered, thinking more of political asses than of their oaths to protect their Constitution.

“…And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

Good times, good times. Our political leaders now are SUCH virtuous people…

Yeah, our Founders were all in on pledging EVERYTHING in support of their ideals – Boehner, it seems, can’t even give up a tanning session…
