Budget Battle: Politically Connected Win, Everyone Else Loses

Yesterday, I was reminded of a piece of music I have not listened to in a while.  So this morning I figured I’d put it on while catching up with things.  I sat down at my desk, logged on and searched to find out about the results last nights bill.  Who knew how apropos the music was to be.  It was Mozart’s Requiem—Mass for the dead.

We’re doomed.

The $1.1 trillion Cromnibus budget bill was passed last night.  Cromnibus is the nick name of a bill that contains all the spending for the government until next September except for Department of Homeland Security which has a continuing resolution to fund it until February.

There was a battle over this bill, it wasn’t clear that it would pass.   And, yesterday, I found myself in the minority of Republican ranks and in a majority of Democrat ranks hoping this bill would fail.  Obviously, it did not.  Even the perpetual golfer Obama put away his putter and got involved.  He helped push week kneed Democrats to flip from a Nay to a Yea and got enough to find higher meaning in the bill to acquiesce (translation: they got something in the 1600 plus page bill for his/her cronies … whore is the word you’re looking for).

But this time Obliterator can’t be blamed.  No this falls squarely on the Orange One Speaker of the House (of whores) John Boehner and his cohorts in the sellout Republican Establishment.  Not conservatives mind you, Republicans, there’s a difference and we see it here.

The conservatives in the House held strong.  So much so that Boehner ignored them and didn’t bother attempting to twist their arms, and he instead focused on bribing the Democrats. (Hmmm… relying on the Democrats to support Rino measures… gee that sounds familiar, must be a new meme developing)  And in the end, he got what he wanted.  A $1.1 trillion budget that your children and your grandchildren will pay for– if we, as a nation, last that long of course.

Some Democrats held strong.  Rumored potential Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren was involved and on the right side, pleading from the Senate to her fellow Democrat House members not to vote for it (of course for completely different reasons than I and other conservatives oppose it, but who cares).  Shea-Porter came down on the right side and voted Nay.  Maybe it’s because she won’t be returning to the House because the returning NH Rep, Ann Kuster, was on the right side for a bit, but does what she does and sold out eventually voting for it—surprise!  Wonder what federally funded goodies are headed to District 2.  We can only wait and see.

The problem with these “comprehensive” monstrosities, as Obamacare glaringly demonstrates, is that no one know what’s in them and that’s the point.  Think of it as codified Gruber or better yet Gruber droppings.  It’s the steaming thousand page pile that plops onto the floor after a Gruber session where so many details, lawyer speak and obfuscations were stuffed into legislation that it’s incomprehensible in its entirety.  However, sinisterly, all the “Yeas” know the precise details of the pieces that are in it for them and theirs.

Two Classes

A note to those Identity Politics fetishists: You’re being played.  The conjuring of distinctions between races, genders, sexual orientation is simply the toxic potion to keep the majority of citizens fighting each other.  It’s a concocted distraction.

We indeed are a nation of classes.  But only two and it’s not based on race, gender or income–though there is some of that.  No, it’s based purely on connections.

We are a nation of two classes, the politically connected and everyone else.  If you’re in the former, you’re pleased as punch at times like these because you’re getting greased whether you’re the whore or the John, you’re getting some.  If you’re in the latter class, which is where I sit, we’re screwed.  We get to live under this twisted oligarchy, fund it and smile.

Now the bill goes to the Senate where the whores can pass it, then go home and attend holiday parties with the connected patting them on the back, wishing them well and no doubt furnishing more gifts of some sort or another for future quid pro quos.

What is the cliché?  Politics makes strange bedfellows.

I always thought this meant that you would end up agreeing with someone with whom you usually disagree.  Find yourself on the same side of an issue with them.  However, I really think it’s it means  you never know who’s going to slip into your bedroom, strap a ball-gag over your head and have at it.  Everyone gets screwed and you never know who’s going doing it to you.
