Obamacare – once again, the TEA Party was right!

Obamacare -Year of the SnakeYou betcha!  One of the main complaints of the TEA Party was that the Federal Government should not be in charge our healthcare.  That it should not be trying to take over and socialize 1/6th of our economy simply because: Government! Top down, gazillion page law and resulting regulations would do NOTHING to lower costs.

Mandating that EVERYONE have health insurance would do nothing to help actual care giving.  Marketplaces would be inefficient and limiting of choice – that in the “Land of the Free” was wrong and certainly in the spirit that America was not governed by a Government but by its citizens for themselves.

Marketplaces that were created by Government and highly regulated by gazillions of bureaucrats (and influenced by every single special interest group grubbing for their slice of the political pie) was not really a marketplace at all but a disgusting bastardization of the English language simply to “make the [Democrat] medicine go down”.

And make NO mistake – ONLY Democrats voted for it (and have been continuing to pay the political price for something the American people have been against since before its inception.  So even with the passage of time, even with the promise of Obama that our premiums would go down, the promise that healthcare costs would be lower, what has happened?  Yeah, the TEA Party was right: the AFFORDABLE Care Act law is not (emphasis mine):

Medical Costs Drive Record High Number of Americans to Delay Treatment

One in three Americans has delayed seeking medical treatment due to its high cost, according to a recent Gallup poll. This marks the highest percentage ever recorded in the 14-year history of the survey question.

Cost of treatment putting off treatment

What the Democrats did NOT want to talk about is that costs are costs – and mandating lower costs on the front end can’t lower them on the back end.  Much to the surprise of Democrats (and the dismay of those that “the Democrats are helping“), people are, indeed, looking at their pocketbooks, the paltry coverage, the high cost of the out-of-pocket deductibles and are deciding that the care they need is too expensive.

Yes, the Democrats have pulled the wool over the eyes and Grubered the poor of America – the implication was always “WE will give you healthcare” even as they said “insurance” and hoped they could get away with it long enough to get it passed.  Like all other national entitlement programs, they prayed (or what passes for prayer in the secularized left – chanting to GAIA hasn’t worked much on their other signature issue – global warming change climate disturbance weather) they wouldn’t get caught.

But they have because it is ALWAYS true, when their policies hit EVERYONES wallet, the blowback is not long behind that realization.  It was becoming clear in the midterm and payback happened.  Not only did the Republicans hold the US House but gained 9 seats in the US Senate.  They also have furthered their hold on the State legislatures and governorships.  And in their rush to write bad law, there are several challenges to the law simply based on the plain language of that law and how Executive Branch entities (Obama, HHS, IRS) have unilaterally declared changes to that Law on their own.

But the graph above is clear – healthcare insurance coverage only does not mean healthcare care coverage.  The whole mantra of the Democrats was that their Federalization / Socialization of our healthcare system was to be a boon, a gift to their dependents.  $2,500 / year lower costs in premiums Obama proclaimed.  Democrat luminaries and shining stars said “no one will be denied care” (which was already the case).  Now reality has set it.

I’ve posted before that families with the lowest cost premiums oft have the highest deductibles – and some can run up to $12K in a given year.  For a family that can barely afford the highly subsidized monthly premium (a couple of hundred buck), this is unaffordable – another lie perpetrated upon the American people, especially those that “are the most vulnerable amongst us” (as Democrats are oft wont to say).  After all, if I was promised care, I have the expectation of care.  If there is something wrong with me that is fixable, the Democrats gave me the expectation that I would have that care.

But I don’t.  If I look at what is wrong, if I look at what it will cost ME out of my pocket and I cannot afford it – I have been lied to.

It’s nothing but yet another Ponzi scheme in the same similar vein when all the “bad stuff” that Obama has wrought is always put off until AFTER the next election – always knowing that if the TRUTH was said and put up front, they’d lose.  This time, the results caught up with them.  Unfortunately, the American people are also caught up in all this – especially the poor.

And THAT is the real moral of the “healthcare delayed is no healthcare at all” – there was NEVER a way to make healthcare more affordable when millions of new patients were going to be dumped into the system, the number of doctors and other providers stayed the same or went down (or just refused to accept Obamacare plans) and government regulations went up making it harder AND more expensive to deliver the care.  Nope, not gonna happen.

Yes, we got lied to.
